It took 90 hours for me to beat it, but I was so tired in the end. Story and characters absolutely amazing, but some sections are truly a drag and feel like filler. Not even considering the platinum tbh

I think this games value to players lays so heavily on whether you think the mini games are pointless and tedious, or if they’re fun additions that make you want to keep playing. Usually im the kind of player who hates overly long padded gameplay segments, but I found the stupid stuff like the world intel really satisfying to check off the list, the UI made it really gratifying to see it checked off. I also loved the world and music, so it was fun exploring. The minigames for some reason were incredibly fun for me. The plat is a different beast. Took me 140+ hours to get it, and the VR battles/playing the game on hard mode was hell on earth.

I'd personally change the game to 45 fps by setting the steamdeck's refresh rate to 45hz and turning off v sync in game since the steamdeck doesn't have screen tearing

A tip if you’re planning on just playing 30 FPS, you can set the TPD and manual GPU clock to its base to help the deck breathe while not chugging the fan at the same time. I also set VRAM to 4GB to get any minor performance boost as well.

TPD is 14-15 and the GPU is 1600. I’ve had it in since I booted it up and haven’t had much issues keeping 30 throughout exploration or combat.

Played 45 minutes of FF7 Rebirth on my Steam Deck and some shader issues and the occasional stutter in the cutscenes. But extremely playable. It does play at 30 fps at most. And expect downgraded graphics similar to the PS4’s version of FF7 Remake which was locked at 30 fps. This is pretty much what Switch 2 owners should expect next year when Rebirth comes out for them. Do not expect it to look as good as the PS5 Pro or higher end PC. And forget even the base PS5. But I was quite a bit surprised it could even play on my Steam Deck and at a fairly stable 30 fps. Remake could run at a minimum of 45 fps with moments at 60. I believe this is great news for Switch 2 owners. If you’ve only been a Nintendo owner, thinks Luigi’s Mansion 3 is one of the best looking games on the Switch 1, and can tolerate the stutters in Tears of the Kingdom, downgraded graphics of FF7 Remake and Rebirth should still impress you. The spirits of the Xbone and PS4 lives on in the Deck and Switch 2. Hopefully, by the time the Switch 2’s version of FF7 Rebirth comes out next year, all the shader issues and slight stuttering should be patched by then. And the Switch 2 version will probably have longer battery life since it’s better optimized for that hardware. Not complaining with FF7 Rebirth on the Deck. At least I can play it now.

I'll be okay w/ that. The fact that Switch 2 is equal to Steam Deck is all I can ask for. I bet Switch 2 will have better battery life though, likely double. I'm only getting a little over an hour when playing FF7 Remake right now on my Steam Deck. I think Nintendo can squeeze 2.5-3.5 hours for AAA games.

I think I might go with a Steam Deck instead of picking up a console from the next generation. Especially with Square Enix wanting to go back to multi console releases. Being able to take games on the go is such a huge bonus! Seems like travelling is the only time I have to game 😅

The downside is since it’s digital, you’ll need Internet/wifi to even play the game. At least for FF7 Remake, you couldn’t even play the game offline, you had to be online.

Looks and plays fantastic on my portal from my Pro. A lot better than native on steam deck, it has to be said, but of course the steam deck allows you to stream it too. But I can’t lie, I’m tempted to double dip with the pic version.

@@gamble777888 its always good to play rpg on handheld. you can just turn off the screen and get right back into action as needed like picking up book. Thats the main reason to purchase a handheld, atleast for me. If you are streaming then theres no difference at all since you still need to b oot up pc, etc etc

I have too many questions. Are you using all settings low and 30fps (these essentially match PS4 potential, the game ran at 30 fps on the system) Do you have cryo utilities enabled? Did you try power tools and adjust the hrtz to try and run something like 40fps in-capped? Thanks for your efforts

I was a little worried when I preordered this when all I have to game is a Steam Deck OLED. I guess I didn't need to worry too much. It may not be fun to play ported to a larger screen though due to bad graphics and 30 fps. 30 fps and low graphics definitely look worse on a big monitor or TV. We will see though.

I think the switch 2 versions will be better simply because of the lack of overhead with the OS, the native porting vs proton, also the API optimization. If rumors are true then the switch 2 version or Remake is almost the same as the ps5 version. So that gives me hope for rebirth being a great port too. But at the end of the day no matter how you enjoy the game, if you enjoy it, that’s all that matters.

As long as you're within the temperature limits, it's fine, it's literally made and tested for running constantly. Just don't cover up the vents and monitor your temperatures to make sure you stay below 90-100C

@@EndgameThor16 if it's labeled DLSS, it should do upscaling. If it's DLAA, it's only applying the anti aliasing of nvidia, but not the upscaling. I noticed some games have been combining this into one option (hogwarts) instead of separating it (like in spiderman) If it's for steam deck though, I'm not sure if the hardware itself supports upscaling?

Ally X has far more powerful CPU&GPU and 8gb more ram compares to the steam deck. I played this game on both devices and steam deck plays and looks like a mess tbh. Switch2 will run FF7 3Rs much better than either Ally or Steam deck because it will be a nintendo port not a non-optimized PC version of the game. Switch2 has nvidia gpu with DLSS too.

Tbf there does need be a bit of wiggle room gpu wise for lossless scaling, and the steam deck seems to be maxed out at 720p 30-40fps. And you need to take into account that windows game performance is generally a bit lower than Linux performance

@ When it first came out yeah steamos was better but the last windows gpu driver made it on par with it. If lossless scaling gets updated to be used on linux then steamos would be better. But as right now I can play BG3 on high settings with no upscaling settings in the game with 40fps. While steamos has low 20s.

@Shukulo The PC port in of itself is amazing, but pc handhelds in terms of specs are limited. With that level of detail and it being open world... it was never to be a locked 30 fps. Now steam deck 2 might have what you are looking for, but for now this is our only option.
