FFXI - The Basics of Magic Bursting

Ah.... Brings me back to the days of rise of zilart. Where my black mage had a freeze macro that told everyone when to weapon skill so I could get that sweet magic burst. Good times....

Q: can a warrior magic burst?

Sadly not. I mean in theory you could sub black mage or something but it's going to be for very poor damage and give you less overall DPS then just subbing a proper sub job.

I don't get it, isn't only the first example a magic burst? And it only had one combo, I don't really understand what comes after when you get into light lv3/lv4, does just any magic work? If you used aero a second time would that continue the magic burst chain?

Yes the first example is a Shun + Shun combo to make a light skillchain and then I double magic burst with Lightning. Note since it's a light skillchain I could have skillchainined with Light, Wind, Fire or thunder magic during that 10 second magic burst window. In the case of a multistep skillchain such as Ten, Kamu, Shun, Shun (4step). You only magic burst after the final step, so after the final shun. This will be a light skillchain so again we simply burst with two lightning spells as they are our strongest but a lightning and aero spell would work as well. note you only have 10 seconds though so you can't just keep using spells indefinitely, you have enough time to get in two castings if your quick.

@@NextGamesGuide What do you mean by double magic burst, you just cast lighting twice? Wouldn't you want to use a more powerful lighting tier spell if the idea is that it's boosting your damage?

@@RandoomDude By lighting I am just referring to the element of the spell. You would need to choose which two strongest lightning spells you can fit in to the window. For instance on Ninja it's Raiton: San followed by Raiton: Ni. With a Black Mage they may try to time a Burst so it lands just as the skillchain goes off and then maybe they can fit in a Thunder IV or V depending on how much time they have left in the MB window. So double magic burst just refers to that your doing 2 in the 10 second magic burst window. Since lightning is the strongest magic most have it's normally what you use when bursting off Light.
