If you play multiple jobs, my advice is to keep these skills in the same spot on all your hotbars. You want to have the muscle memory to hit these skills reliably, so always having them in the same spot will save your bacon when you need to. This includes similar skills in other job roles like Surecast (Arm's Length) or Addle (Feint)/[insert Physical Ranged Raidwide Mitigation here]. I don't see it often discussed but it is immensely helpful.

You can do this with all melee job skills. All my AoE combos, enemy stun, defensive skills, 2 minute raid buffs, 1 min or 90 second buffs are in the same places.

In endwalker content and a few shadowbringers fights tankbusters are denoted by a big red arrow on the tank, so there's an easy tell for feint, in earlier stuff or for raidwides you have to either remember, or guess by the name. Most tankbusters have names like "heavy slash" or "Ultra pummel" that sound like a big hit, raid wides tend to have less consistent theming but any cast with no mechanic tells with a name that sounds like a generic attack and nota massive hit is probably a raidwide.

It seriously frustrates me when I go an entire duty without ever seeing a Feint or Addle debuff marker on an enemy. Thank you for this!

It's difficult to know where to put it. The duration is so short and long cool down. So you may put it up just to have it drop off right before a tank buster.

@@dragonhearthx8369 I will say it matters more for things like extremes (and even normal trials, ESPECIALLY when people keep dying) and high-end raids than stuff like MSQ dungeons, level cap dungeons, etc., but people will love you if you do it in those "less important" places. For dungeons, it's literally acceptable to just use it in trash pulls, especially if the tank seems to be struggling, or the healer's dead, or the tank isn't using mitigation (tanks, please use mitigation). Trash is more dangerous than bosses in a vast majority of cases! As for trials and dungeon bosses, this can be a bit trickier if you don't know the boss beforehand, especially if you prefer going in blind and don't watch guides. If you do know the fight and/or watch guides, keep and eye on cast bars and animations. But if you don't, at the very least, you can use it during those Big Raid-wides. You know the ones: The enemy becomes untargetable and does their ultimate move, which is big and cinematic. Feel free to use it them, especially if it's one that had a gauge that filled a lot before the move went off. :P It doesn't matter (as much) anymore if the damage is physical or magical (though it's usually magical for Big Ultimate Attacks, I think? I don't know, the ranged phys "equivalentsc mitigate all damage, and I'm a ranged phys main, so pardon my ignorance)-Addle and Feint mitigate both! I hope this helped at least somewhat.

@@callmeobsequious the problem with using it in trash is that, it's single target. So it won't help you there. That's my only criticism.

I swear I'm always the only one using Feint. To the point I started wondering if I was missing something since nobody else seems to be using it 😅 tbf I am only doing casual content and just reached Endwalker so I guess the effect isn't super noticeable, but at least I'm getting into the habit of using it.

Doesn't feint also reduce the damage of enemy auto-attacks? Most of those are physical, so if the tank is being pummelled by those (and that can be as scary as busters) you can help the healer keep up with that too
