FFXIV Healer Guide: Scholar

Scholar is one of the two barrier healers available on Final Fantasy 14, and, compared to it's counterpart, has more to offer than meets the eye. Equipped with a trusty Faerie, Mitigation and Raid buffs, this barrier healer will not be left in the dust against the new healer on the block

We don't do focus fire... So it's COMPLETELY POINTLESS from a healer perspective if you do damage or not. You reduce the number of hostiles = reduce damage taken = reduce healing needed = healers can DPS more... hostiles DOES NOT DO LESS DAMAGE BECAUSE THEY HAVE 1 HIT POINT. Only DEAD hostiles stop doing damage. Also who the hell care about the 1% of the 1% that do savage raids and have DPS checks to worry about? Why ruin the game for everyone else by DEMANDING the play at elite raid level? I've not seen a single fight that contain a DPS check, they all just have bosses with rotation mechanics, where they rotate through avoidable mechanics and will keep rotating until they die. That is not a DPS check, it doesn't matter if they die on the 100 rotation or the 3rd, might be better it is the 100th as it will train people in handling the mechanics consistently.

you dont savage raid, what youve seen is NORMAL mode, normal modes never have dps checks for very obvious reason.. cause you coudldnt handle the dps check, if u want to see a true hard dps check go play nidhogg or ravana on min ilvl that will have a dps check... so no its not pointless in anyway what so ever.. come back when you actually play beyond intial story mode release raids n trials..

Actually a lot of the normal trials have dps checks (Ifrit's nail, Garuda's feathers, Ravana's butterflies to name a few). In dungeons, The Aery has a dps check where if Estinien dies, it's a wipe, and I think a lot of the hard mode dungeons from ARR have some dps checks.
