I have to say that the two best fights for this track are Diabolos and Ilberd. More specifically, the bit that starts at 0:47. In the Diabolos fight that part usually comes up at the beam sequence, which makes that bit all the more awesome. In the Ilberd fight, that bit usually comes up when he calls down the swords (I think the attack is called Lionshead). Again, it makes that sequence even more awesome than it already is

Seeing a lot of comments surprised at how good this song is or how fitting it felt to the end. It's a remix of Torn From The Heavens. The song that plays the first time you get the echo buff during the MSQ. It's basically the Warrior of Light's theme. Now you know why it feels so familiar and pumping everytime you hear this. It's a Heavensward remix of Your theme.

Oh... wow... this boss theme feels... it feels much more dramatic then a lot of songs I've heard in this new patch. I honestly wish they had this play during the final fight of something rather then just a dungeon. I feel like it captures every little aspect of Heavensward in both theme and spirit. If that's true, it makes sense. But the version they used for Final Steps has a little bit more "finale" feeling to it. But I could definitely have seen this for that fight. I do think they made the right call though, the Final Steps version has a bit more epic and gravity to it.

ShadeKazin It actually appears in the original conclusion of King Thordan's storyline, the boss music in the Aetheracoustic Research Facility. Quite epic and appropriate for the climax that is that boss fight.

Just noticed one more reason I like this theme. Around 1:40 it sneaks in ARR's main theme (from various BGM, Castrum, Praetorium, etc). I love how often FF14's OST basically references itself.

I'm glad that in the year since this comment was posted that this still remains true. One example in the recent update is Omega's theme "eScape" which has the Azys La theme making a guest appearance between lyrics. I think that this is why the OST for this game manages to consistently capture me, the only examples i can think of that don't are the songs featured in The Weapon's Refrain. (Ultimate)

That is forever the Torn from the Heavens motif. Along with this song, it sounds amazing in Calamity Unbound Orchestra version. The alternate one is faster and more broken up. It's in the Azys Lla theme but has better prominence in the Phase 1 theme for Thordan Ex and Shinryu. It's may favorite thing about FFXIV music haha.

@@jubez1875 Actually, to me, Torn From The Heavens and its variations everywhere, are now The Warrior of Light's Theme. Given how it has been used in MSQ, but particularly for the Ardbert sequences in Shadowbringers. Its usage in SHB has really pulled it away from "ARR MSQ Theme" to "WOL's Theme".

This theme was originally made for an unspecified moment in 3.3 (Final Steps maybe), but it was rejected, or that's what soken said before Live Letter XXX officially started. Now it was simply put somewhere, would have been a waste to not use it. This doesn't even technically fit to post-Dragonsong War questline, the lyrics are praising Halone.
