Would you ever consider doing VOD breakdowns? I play BLM and usually parse well enough in the high purples/low oranges playing mostly standard. I want to get into nonstandard but have a hard time understanding why/when to use nonstandard lines over standard. Often times I use them but find myself missing resources in later parts of the fight when I would need them. Would love for you to review some of your high parses and discuss the decision making in them.

I'm still a baby blm because I main healer for raiding and I had NO IDEA to use lucid to help regen mp during ice. It's like I've seen a whole new world so I can minimize my ice phase, bless you.

You shouldnt need lucid dreaming during ice phase unless you're doing transpose lines. In that case you would usually use lucid dreaming if you dont have a fire starter proc.

Yeah, I felt the same way when I first seen it being used. Lucid Dreams can be tricky to work into rotations, but it definitely makes a big impact to learn it for Transpose rotations. Its better to weave it in just before you're in Ice Phase to guarantee you wont miss any MP server ticks. It can leave you a bit of MP short of an extra cast during Astral Fire without Lucid Dreams; unless you slowcast Fire III or have a spare GCD for extra filler to get the extra tick. You don't always need to have max MP for Fire Phase though, so it shouldn't hurt to just go back into it even without max MP if needed. Since you won't have Paradox going back into Astral Fire, it can even help you avoid having to refresh with Fire 1 midphase.

Hi I have a question about the special transpose line using paradox + F1 to get astral fire 3. When is this line specifically useful? From what i observe you only use it on leyline and movement intensive mechanic

this is a sick run, if you take requests are you able to upload an updated p12s video? there's not too many black mages to study from outside of just skimming logs and analyzing timelines this is my first tier progging on black mage and my fundamentals aren't really there yet, but it helps a lot to visually see what people are doing in other fights esp in regards to nonstandard play for when i transition there with a bit more gear, i've just been super safety gaming and dropping casts altogether just for prog sake though

Minutes ago I just cleared this fight. The PF group I was looking at had a Sage, and wasn't accepting Scholar, which was my main ever since I started hard content when I was doing ARR. Recently I was considering which class I want to turn into my full time main in Dawntrail, Scholar of Black Mage. I joined the group as a Black Mage, just to give it a good old try, and what I found is that in very hard content where things go wrong easily, I stress out a lot less when I'm only responsible for myself playing correctly. I like healing and all, but executing that perfect uptime rotation, optimizing everything to the last second in the fight, and even occasionally clipping or having to move without instant-casts just makes it so much more rewarding. I think this is the first fight since level 50 where I cleared it first time as anything other than a Scholar, and I'm ready to do the rest of the tier, and next expansion as Black Mage. Your guide and these clear PoVs are invaluable for anyone learning not only the class, but the fight itself. Black Mages only do anything when they absolutely have to, so these videos are usually where I go when I need to get a better grasp on a mechanic.

Hey Eksu, curious and wanted to ask, whats the advantage of the times you transpose into Ice, instead of doing standard Blizz3 swap? Is it to line up a fire phase with Ley Lines better later?

Using a GCD on Blizz3 is pretty weak, since it doesn't do much damage, so it's better to use transpose in a free OGCD slot and only use high damage GCDs like Paradox, Thunder3, and Xenoglossy if you can manage it.

Surprised you don't know you can stay 'in' for in or out for Fire/Ice elements as long as you're the only DPS that does that, no movement necessary if the supports are rotating.

Since the knockback circle is purple, Surecast wouldn't prevent it.
