@vert369 I've only played a little bit, but on the spells I've seen each time you select the spell there is a little button you can press that toggles it between Area and Direct. In this video its hard to see, but at 4:22 you see the little green box appear over the center of the screen, thats where you select Area of Direct.

I meant for Summoner. >.< I have a feeling they'll make the classic summons like Ifrit, Titan, Shiva, Bahamut etc the roaming ones they mentioned but then make the ones like Diabolos, Fenrir, Carbuncle, and Quezacotl available for summoner. I read that they were going to incorporate things from previous FFs

ahahaha that was so great! The huge variety of people in FFXI was awesome, u had people in parties from NewYork, Tokio, California, Germany from all over the world. People falling asleep in parties was there just a common thing XD, or people going afk cuz they have to bring their children to the bus stop. FF11 and FFXIV were only about great communication, friendly people and experiencing the new areas together. Hope they don´t screw the FFXIV reborn now ;/. No other MMO could reach what FF did!

I guess it doesn't look that different, but they removed stamina, you know have one class level instead of a class level and a physical level (good idea). They added auto attack, and jobs which can be thought as extensions of classes with more specific roles - a whole new party dynamic. Plus more I can't remember lol, it still needs some work but the V2.0 release is looking to be promising I'd say.

Might be a good idea to check facts before you call others out. Square intended FFXI and FFXIV to stand alone. It was never intended for FFXIV to replace XI. This was stated to ffxi players ages ago after FFXIV was revealed and before FFXIV even went into beta.

that's ALL changing, with 2.0 it will be drastically different. most of these stupid bugs have already been worked out and slowly released into live gameplay. the game is finding it's sweet spot, and I think it has a kick ass future for PC gamers. this, coming from someone that's been playing MMO's for about 9 years.

This is actually pretty old footage from what I can tell. The game has made great strides since they shitcanned Tanaka and put Yoshida in charge. It's playable and more importantly, it's -fun- now. I ragged on the game more than anyone back when it came out. I was in the Alpha and sadly even put money down on it because my boyfriend really wanted to give it a chance. TLDR: The game has made huge improvements in the last year and is worth checking out, especially once 2.0 hits.

Well you have to buy the game but there is no subscription fee like you get with most mmoRPG's. You buy the disc, and pop in the game, install it and play it. No more money spent.

I'm not saying this because I'm taking his side, but because there actually is a turn-based MMO called Atlantica Online. It's now offered through Nexon.net. I don't have time to play it anymore, but it gave me a good year and a half of entertainment. Still looks nice too, though inflation was becoming a problem when I left about a year ago.

I havent played FFXI actually, but it was REALLY hard to get a PS2 online (the only way to play an MMO), and MMOs typically don't have that much plot, they are typically just a vast area where people can communicate and fight other monsters/people. I havent played XII either lol ive just heard its really good but not Final Fantasy-ish

They had it F2P for a few months after launch because the launch was bad but the game has gotten a hellova lot better since then 2.0 is going to make it even better.

In their defense, this has long changed. The game has moved a lot faster in the past few months and is set to go even faster in the remake, ARR. But you should know that watching someone play an RPG never feels quite as fun as actually playing an RPG.
