Very well put together guide thank you! You are a natural at this and I've happily subscribed. I had one question that doesn't seem to be mentioned in the guide and maybe it's just me being a smoothbrain SAM here, on fights that go past about 6 minutes I tend to find my Meikyo Shisui cooldown will start to drift to the point of capping back at 2 charges before I can use it for a burst window. I'm experimenting with places to burn it but I wanted to know if there is a good place in a standard loop rotation to use it without accidentally drifting a Higanbana or other time sensitive moves? Edit: Saw that someone else has asked this same question in the comments, thanks for your answer there!

I love saying "I need to higanbana to get another shoha because I might not get another midare setsugekka" because it makes no sense to anyone but it sounds samurai

Such a great guide! I plan on switching to sam next tier and trying to get practice in now. On a dummy 2.08 lines up perfectly with full uptime as described. But im finding the general downtime mechanics of savage are forcing my even burst to be around 10-20s behind (late) because i cant always keep the combo loop rolling and it compounds. If this happens, would doing the meikyo "acceleration" be recommended to catch up? Even if it means one is not available for odd/even bursts?

One criticism - the "Mei" in "Meikyo" is kinda pronounced like "May." In Japanese, "e" is pronounced like "eh" and if it's followed by an "i" then you just hold the "eh" sound for slightly longer.
@Kounteron5 ай бұрын
with meikyo enabling key burst abilities, it seems like ad-hoc/freestyle will be dead? since you can't adjust the rotation with meikyo anymore and have to use it during burst. God I hate the filler GCDs I never am able to keep track of how much I need especially since I'm not 100% accurate with my gameplay and make combo mistakes. EDIT: I think I'm calling it wrong by calling it ad-hoc
@TyciGaming5 ай бұрын
They're definitely not dead, but the meikyo change unfortunately restricts them far more than in Endwalker. At the moment, in many cases, it's better to learn and implement a proper loop to ensure you're enabling your teams raid damage as well as your own damage. I see fillerless rotations used inappropriately far too often where they are not only griefing raid buffs, but also their own damage just so that they don't have to use a hagakure.
@Kounteron5 ай бұрын
@@TyciGaming I don't have a problem with hagakure use at all, it's a cool and unique ability, the problem is I always struggle looking back and adjusting the rotation based on mistakes i've made a minute before. Or just keeping track of which part of the GCD loop I am in and when buffs are about to start. Git gud I guess
@Kounteron5 ай бұрын
But thank you for the guide Tyci and the considerations for these rotational ideas
@TyciGaming5 ай бұрын
@Kounteron yeah that wasn't necessarily directed at you so apologies if it came off that way. It's just something I see frequently when people ask me to review logs. I guess my best advice would just be learn a timing cadence that works for you based off of a cooldown or your higanbana debuff or something (i.e. try to see patterns in where things come up/fall off). Everyone has their own thing that keeps that timer running in their head.
@Kounteron5 ай бұрын
@@TyciGaming oh no worries, I didn't take it like that, I was just steering the conversation back in the direction I needed lmao. I still enjoy Samurai to bits though so I either learn the cadences eventually or max out at 80s but try to fit as much into buffs as possible
@Envinyon5 ай бұрын
I have a question I was hoping you could help with. I've been practicing my rotation on a dummy and I notice after awhile, meikyo shisui will naturally overcap (my gcd recast is 2.15). I'm guessing this is because we only use one once a minute and it has a 55s cooldown, so they eventually "catch up". Obviously I wanna use it, but whenever I try to simply throw it out somewhere, it changes how the rotation loops. Is there a way to avoid this, or is it just something that has to be played around?
@TyciGaming5 ай бұрын
Yeah this is something that will come up when (like you said) the fights go on for a long amount of time and gets exagerated even more now by the fact that we can use meikyo earlier in our prep-pull. It will ultimately come down to assessing whether you're going to lose a use or not, but unless you're holding onto two stacks of meikyo for 55s (enough time to lose a use) it's not a problem.
@xmachina6 ай бұрын
What advice do you have for someone who has trouble tracking raid buffs?
@TyciGaming5 ай бұрын
Biggest advice I can give from my own personal experience is: 1. Make your own personal buffs more visible (i.e. move them near where your eyes normally track or like to rest) and make them bigger 2. Turn on your audio and listen for the buff queues 3. Learn where party buffs should be with regards to your rotation (i.e. if you're performing the loop make a mental note every time you enter your even burst)
