FFXIV - Shinryu's Theme

Shinryu's theme from the royal menagerie trial. Story Spoilers ahead for those who havn't finished the main scenario yet. I think I found a new favorite theme. Phase 1 is Scale and Steel from the last patch, looped and renamed as The Worm's Head (i used the original track for the video, that's why it has an conclusion). But it's phase 2 (4:20) music (The Worm's Tail) which makes this boss fight so awesome. I thought of using a less chaotic run, but this one felt more exciting than an uneventful one (those verraises saved the day!).

But I only now just realized both healers died and the red mage pulled the clutchest move in the entire fight and did dual cast resurrection on them right before he died, saving the entire raid in the process.

Yep. That's why I love playing RDM. I can spend some of the fight being overshadowed by a SMN or BLM for raw damage output, but when the shit hits the fan and the Healer(s) are down, that's when I can be the savior the party needs by getting them back on their feet and healed up. That's why I actually view RDM as the "damage control" Job. :P

@@neoa3562 I think Bards can also revive dead allies too, though a Red Mage can do it far more easily and quickly thanks to Dualcast. But yeah, when it comes to pure utility and emergency situations, that's when Red Mages excel. The may not do as well as the more "specialized" classes in terms of melee combat, offensive & healing magic, or at reviving dead allies since they're the classic "Jack of All Trades, Master of None" class, but they more than make up for it with just pure utility and versatility since they can adapt to many different situations much more easily than other classes.

My first run with AST was a fantastic moment and was playing with my emotions. When the motif played all those emotions came flowing out and it usually happens during the middle of the cyclone. I literally had some huge reflections on my journey in that small time i heard that motif. Honestly the most inspiring moment was fighting against the odds (the cyclone pushing you back and you can't hardcast any healing in time) and I had celestial opposition right when it tries to blast us away on my first run through. Literal "NO I REFUSE" moment when I had an instant AoE Heal activate to prevent everyone from dying. 10/10 this game is so well designed from song selection to emotions and the first attempt at the boss fight.

@@DarkDyllon there is always an overarching theme or tune to the soundtrack of an expansion. Heavenward was more somber melody the cost of war and the tragedy it brings. Stormblood goes into what is worth fighting for and what Triumph ((in joke SE)) can bring that's why the theme is a lot more energetic and powerful. Than Shadowbringers is about what you are willing to sacrifice and go through to bring peace to another world.

The tanks were like the best people ever & asked if we wanted to discord if we needed tips or whatever. So we all said "Trial & Error, better to learn & die then just get told the mechs right?" I've probably watched this video 100 times over the past 2 years. Great memories associated with this fight, possibly the most epic fight in the entire series. Every time I hear this theme, I pretend I'm fighting for my life to save the world, in a childish bout of imagination. I'm 24, and listening to this song brings out that child inside me that wants to play pretend. My heart swells and my blood pumps when I hear it. Absolutely stellar job, SE. I will never get tired of this OST.

They might be working on Kefka from FFVI but I think we'll see Exdeath before him. There's also a "Return to Ivalice" raid in development with some Ivalice Primals (aka Belias, Mateus, Adrammelech etc...), I think it will introduce important story details since Zodiark came from that world and is the leader of the Scions.

This is why I *LOVE* playing RDM. They can be outclassed in terms of raw damage or healing capacity by other classes, but when the shit really hits the fan they can be the savior the party needs with that Dualcast of theirs and their ability to use single-target healing and resurrection. Few classes can rival the raw utility and versatility of the RDM. :)

When you think about it, it is the only final fight we won ourselves: In ARR we defeated The Ultima Weapon because of Hydaelyn protection. Same for kicking Lahabrea out of Thancred. In Heavensward, we could only defeat Niddhogg thank to Hraesvelgr eye. Ain't counting Thordan, he a bitch. Finally in Shadowbringers, we had Ardbert's sacrifice helping us control an entire world's worth of light to fight Hades. But here? None of that. Just eight guys, fighting a god with steel, powder and voices.

Damn, you're right. Gonna be real, this fight is my favorite final boss (if not my favorite boss in general). I also love his theme as well, I think more than Hades/WoL. Those are super good, but for some reason, I always get the feels when I hear this theme, and I love it.

It saddens me how people all the time think this expansion wasn't "all that", and while I see where they are coming from this expansion was absolutely incredible! Fighting Shinryu, I couldn't help but cry the entire time(call me sensitive I don't care lol). Like all I thought of was all of those people, how much pain and oppression they went through, not just physically but to their pride and their spirit as people and a nation, they were so broken and this fight just represented them being done with it, done with the oppression and being pushed around. Fighting with everything they have for their lives and freedom, it just wells something up inside of me I guess. The music is just so powerful, especially when the second fight starts, oh my god...

This expansion was from a gamepaly perspective awesome, and the perfect mix of casual friendly, but hardcore enough. While Shadowbrigners maybe got a good Story the gamepaly especially the classes go the damn wrong road (especially makign DRK into a Warrior Reskin). Stormblood was an awesome expansion and was the best FFXIV ahd to offer with heavensward. totally agreeing with you.

I’m with you on the music. It’s crazy how after the platform is destroyed that you’re running to dodge an attack, right as you land onto another one-5:00. Then at around 10:00 jumping to different tiles to dodge the attack. Music captures the high stakes of the battle...

Beat Stormblood for the first time just this last year, having picked up FFXIV a few months earlier. I went into this fight blind and I'll never forget my introduction to Shinryu. Immediately after the cutscene, I watched our healer play dead and type "oh no" into the chat. By phase 2, I found out why.

This fight was so hard but the group I had was fantastic. Two healers and two RDM meant we essentially had four people raising, though we still wiped a couple times even then. The tanks were helpful and friendly and after it was over we all stood around the exit talking and celebrating because nobody wanted to be the first to leave. I really do love this game.

first time i did this it was epic for me. i remember when boss was near 10% life suddendly all my raid died, except me (an AST) and the main tank. LB just got to 3 and it was my oportunity to shine, i used it, everybody comes back to life and we finally killed it. so for me this fight has an special place in my memories just for that hahaha also i need to mention that AST LB looks SOOOO COOL so definitely i felt fantastic while doing it hahaha

I remember doing this a year ago when Stormblood launched and my god was it epic. I was one of the first wave of people to 70 and nobody knew the fight. We wiped 5 times and cleared in on the 6th. The team was super friendly and we were all so damn hyped to make it through. It was so epic and satisfying. The music from Phase 2 still gives me goosebumps

Nokushi it really was/is. I was so frustrated from people rage quitting but after the second fight i figured him out but by my fourth full team i finally beat him. Though it felt a 100x better than the nidhogg fight which i never thought anything could top in the most suspenseful epic primal fights for me imo
