The dual P is the most underrated pickup configuration in the bass world. I don't know why. However, the funny thing is, for example two big sound bass brand used dual P (reverse P actually) "under the hood". The good old all-graphite Steinberger had reverse P pickups with blade magnets under the humbucker shape, made by EMG. And Mark King's also good old Jaydee bass had reverse blade P pickups under the wooden humbucker shape pickup covers. But we also had the Aria Pro II series, or the B.C Rich Eagle basses with their Dimarzio reverse or normal P pickups. I had an Oakland bass, which was a B.C. Rich Eagle copy, similar electronics (low pass filters, booster, passive tone knobs, coil and phase switches) and normal set of Dimarzio P pickups. It had a HUGE sound. In some setting I could dial out even the old Fender Jazz sound, or even something like an old Alembic. :) Back to this video, the Mighty Jazz Bass sound is far above the good!

@kolbola I had a Warwick Streamer Stage I, all maple, from 1989, sold it 2016. It had a P/J - configuration with a reverse P - splitcoil. In passive mode the sound of the split coil came near to a Precision tone, but with more defined low end. Loved the bass a lot - until I was adicted to MusicMan basses. Never looked back....

I own two electric guitars made by Fujigen, and one bass guitar made by a brand called History, for which the company was responsible for subcontracted production. I think this video is a great introduction to the product, accurately capturing and explaining its strengths.

I took a chance on an Expert Series Mighty Jazz on eBay and it far exceeded expectations. Near perfect build quality, sustain for days, and harmonics that just jump off the fingerboard. You can feel the wood of the neck resonating as you play, it's truly like it's alive. The tone is so harmonically complex it's forcing me to be a better player, with my sloppiness no longer masked by dullness. I have no desire for a high end Fender now, the FGN is just as good if not better for a significantly lower price.

Dual reverse P…interesting. Wish I could buy one.
@EpictheEpicest6 жыл бұрын
you can, just search "fujigen bass" online and one should pop up that you can buy :). Or go to the Fujigen website and see if you can get one from the distributor in your country. Or look for a similar bass by Aria, Fernandes, BC RIch, etc.

I've actually tried to purchase one of their jazz bass 5 when I visited Tokyo several years ago but most of stores didn't have. I asked the store staff when the stock would be available. He, unfortunately, said didn't have a plan for restocking for lack of demand from buyers. I'm happy to hear new things came out.

PJ Basses are awesome,silimar to a jazz bass, people usually don't use only bridge pickup and they blend it with split coil, with a nice PJ bass you already have a P bass and 95% of a Jazz bass.

Those sound amazing but it’d be much cooler if you specify the setting used on each part of the demo. And if you’re allowed to, please include the price range too :) Thanks for a great demo and waiting for the next ;)

The control positions are just laziness, I guess. But prices change and differ from country to country. It doesn’t make much sense to mention them in a review

Would be nice to have a 3-way switch on the basses to switch between pickups faster or even a 5-way blade switch with that and series/parallel options. Just to have something that holds up to the Aria, Greco, Ibanez or Fernandes basses of the 70s and 80s.

With 2 volume controls you have a much bigger sound variety. Not sure what’s bad about that
