Id say Holmes' np is one of the most lore accurate and fitting nps in the game. In his stories he shined light upon criminals and solved mysteries which in a sense made them defenseless. His Np essentially makes anything open and defenseless.

Thats the funniest thing to me. Despite how mad supportive the NP seems as well as his first skill is, he does so much dmg on his own that whether you have a squad or himself that his dmg makes it look like hes doing NP Dmg on normal attacks.

I sometimes use him as a support as well along with hans to crit buff my dps. Its an effective team. But yeah i mostly use him for dps.

One word: Hans. Hans is notoriously one of the best supports for Holmes that you could possibly give him, since he more or less provides *everything* that our detective wants. Add in a Saberlot for better damage output, and you've got one helluva crazy effective team going on between the three of them.

@@FurrySupportMain Here's the thing- In a primarily Arts-focused team like this, you'll be NP spamming a lot. And with Saberlot's dps output (especially with all those crit buffs flying around), damage really isn't an issue. Specially since Holmes can make for an off-attacker himself. And really, in this team, Hans' NP just provides so much more than CasGil's does. But, of course, CasGil isn't a bad choice either if he's who you'd prefer.

Also, a team Saberlot, Holmes and Merlin (preferably with 2030) is pretty good. Usually people don't recommend Merlin for Arts crit teams, but in this case Merlin's buster/crit buff is not wasted as saberlot has two buster cards. This team also has healing and hard defense in the form of Merlin's invincibility skill. I'm definitely gonna try it out.

Well they could pull an Emiya and summon a Bruce lee from the future. Also it’s not impossible to be a modern servant it is just extremely unlikely and even if it does happen the servant will probably be very weak due to not having much history. I feel like bruce lee, however, is well known enough to be summoned as a servant albeit probably a weak assassin or berserker class servant due to his lack of history and magic. His noble phantasm would probably be one inch punch or something. Some other servants I think would be cool are al Capone, Shaka Zulu, three musketeers and Amelia earheart. If you ask me earheart is just asking to become a servant because all the mystery surrounding her disappearance. I’m sure the nasuverse could say something like she reached the root or she disappeared. Also I would like some more American servants in general like George Washington, Theodore Roosevelt, Benjamin Franklin, Wright brothers, Abraham Lincoln and John Henry would be cool too. Washington would make a good rider, ruler or a her servant, Theodore would be a good archer or berserker(because I heard he didn’t like teddy bears and while I don’t know if this is true or not the fate universe does have even rumors, stories and lies that can effect a servant and the teddy bear is partially based/started by Roosevelt anyway so just slap an innocent monster skill on him), Ben Franklin could be a faster with lightning and a kite or something, the Wright brothers would obviously be riders, and I heard somewhere that Abraham Lincoln can apparently be summoned as a berserker in the nasuverse I would assume because of the stories that involve Lincoln’s ghost haunting places but idk. I imagine John Henry would be kinda like Arash but a berserker with a hammer, or two, instead of a bow. But to be honest what fate fan doesn’t want to see more heroic spirits from their country. I would still be totally down with servants like zoro or lupin though

The thing I see a lot of people do on jp in my friends list is making Holmes the main damage dealer, and to that effect he’s actually really good, much more than a B in my opinion, if you can get arts crit star gens like Helena, Hans, or Edison, and then support Holmes, by spamming his np, the amount of crit damage he can deal is insane, one of my friends actually put a limit broken knights oath on him, and because he’s a ruler it works surprisingly well.

It's actually pretty impressive how Sherlock pairs with Moriarty's kit since Mori has 3 arts cards for arts chains (even if his NP is a buster one), and Holmes can give him the 10 stars with his first skill that James needs for his NP battery (saving you a CE slot to use instead of 2030)

Odd team comp I've found some success with is Sherlock, Merlin, Enkidu. Merlin and Sherlock help mitigate Enkidu's middling damage, enable monstrous crits, and provide synergistic decks for fairly consistent arts and quick chains. Not a perfect team by any means, but it's been working surprisingly well for stubborn divine archers and zerkers.

Honestly, a lot of youtubers claim he is a lot better than he actually is only because he is their favorite servant. I think of Holmes as an offensive crit servant, his kit is heavily focused towards self crit damage and with his np he gives himself great dmg buffs, the other party members just happen to benefit from it, too.

It feels like I was extremely lucky to have had my 250 day login bonus happen near when he came, though I thought he was coming out in August and wanted to save more. But on top of having that, playing catch up in the story and gaining the quartz from them, and the recent release of gaining the chance to 10 quartz for each singularity completed gave me two of him with no cost at all towards trying to roll for him. Also, kind of only liking this just from hearing Dies Irae in the background of the video, and I am hyped for when we get Antonio Salieri some time next year if I am guessing right about us getting the start of the Lostbelt chapters around April.

I was rolling for Skadi and was down to my last four saint quartz. After spending more than 200 of those things and more than 15 tickets with no success, I was resigned to yet another day in the valley of fear and salt. I pull. The lone card turns and behind the sign of the Ruler, there he stood, the gentleman from 221 B, Baker Street. I grew up reading his stories as a child, so that brought a smile. Welcome detective. This third anniversary has been quite the study in scarlet. I rolled for one servant and she didn't arrive. But we'll keep rolling. And with Holmes in on the case, this will be far from our last bow.

One team Comp idea I would like to try out is Holmes, Squirtoria and Tamamo. Squirtoria’s deck has good synergy with Holmes and she can give him extra star generating on his quick cards thanks to her 3rd skill. As for Tamamo, she can help with stalling with her 1st skill and provide even more NP spamming and skill cooldown reduction. Great video as always. Can’t wait to see the next one.

Very accurate review, as usual. :D Being an Arts lover, I personally find him amazing, but he's surely not for beginners, nor if you want to farm. If you pair him with Shi Huang Di and Jeanne, I can only imagine what kind of stupidly powerful unblockable crit team you'd obtain.

It probably won sinergize well, kars and holmes will be disputing for stars and neither can generate many stars themselves, you can try double or triple 2030s (though jeanne works better with PC) but it still wont be very functional, those are some of the "conflicting team comps". Single support and 2 damage dealers can work but some combos really overlap and dont work too well

Maybe I'm missing something, but I honestly can't see the conflict here: Holmes is an offensive support for the whole team, Jeanne is a defensive support and Kars is a self buffing attacker.

Everything pointed out is true and all but u missed a tiny detail that no player that owns sherlock and plays with him plays sherlock as a support. 9/10 times sherlock is the stack buffs and crit as main dps especially on cqs with 4-5 others supporting him and those times that he supports are when he is used as a plugsuit np kind of playstyle

yes, the selfish buff kinda strenghten your point. It's true that he is only good at some fights, but you don't pick support just for their NP, and his selfish skill prove that he is a dps servant. Most good support that I've seen usually have at least one or two targetable or entire party buff

He's a cool character that I've enjoyed seeing pop up in the story. And his whole kit and design is interesting how it is set to work. Got to be in the right team and used in the right situations. But a pretty nice servant. It's so close to Summer though. So I may only throw a few tickets in that direction while fingers remain crossed. Good luck to those pulling though.

Got him with a ticket. I'm fairly new to this game, got 5 tickets from the event quests. Used all of them on his banner (the one with Drake), was hoping to get Drake because I liked her since Extra. A gold card popped up, but I didn't realize which class it was from the background. Boom. Ruler.

If his skills are selfish, then he’s NOT a support. He’s a solo crit Ruler.

You can use him as a crit servant, but the problem with that is his NP is made more for supporting and his overall damage is still low even with crits. There are 2 other rulers coming out that play the offensive crit role much better

Well, I surprisingly got him after a few desperation singles after the disappointment of getting a dupe on the guaranteed! Which is great cause I genuinely like him as a character from Camelot and Shinjuku, and his design/aesthetic is awesome, and he has an amazingly unique kit I am fond of. I can't wait to pair him up with my level 90 NP4 Saberlot, I wonder who the best third option on that team would be? Merlin is the obvious choice cause it's Merlin, but Waver would be amazing too, Holmes and Waver's NPs working together would be a scary amount of defense down (and my Waver recently became NP2 to boot)! Stars might be more of an issue then, though, and those are required for Saberlot and Sherlock, but a couple of 2030s would solve that issue anyway. Suffice it to say, Sherlock looks like a damn interesting niche support who I am excited to try out! I feel like he has amazing highs as a Ruler when used optimally, that we may not see again from the class until Shi Huang Di comes. Your B makes sense, but he seems so damn cool and unique that I almost feel like he deserves a bit higher, a B+ perhaps, cause of his specialization being so damn intriguing and effective.

Just drew him after several tries, his banner's been good to me. 2nd copy of both Helena and Suzuka, a Lobo and now Holmes! Cost me the equivalent of 90 SQ but I still have enough for a few swimsuit draws. Now I have a Servant of each class that's been released, just waiting on a Foreigner.

Great vid as usual. Just my 2 cents on this guy: His atk stat is actually great. Top 15 on JP (I think) after his class modifier, only beaten by the SSR Avengers, some Berserkers, and Kingprotea. I feel like this was a bit played down, but eh... He is definitely designed for challenge quests and not everyday farming (as you said); but in those quests, I feel like he actually works best when used as a primary DPS in a double support team instead of as a support servant himself. As mentioned, his skills are very selfish, so putting him in a more naturally selfish role could suit him better. Sure, his NP doesn't deal dmg, but with 2 supports providing NP gain, stars, and some extra dmg buffs for him on top of him stacking his NP effects, his crits can hit near or at NP level dmg numbers anyway, even in neutral with a bit of EMD stacking (2 stacks at NP1 is a 60% def debuff, which is fairly easy to maintain as long as the boss doesn't have debuff immunity, and if you get one more copy for NP2 that becomes 80%, an effective dmg buff well above any mana burst as far as I know). Plus, as an extra benefit, while your supports still won't be putting out *massive* numbers, with EMD stacking even their crits can potentially hit respectably hard, allowing for a bit more consistency outside DPS burst turns in longer fights as long as you can keep star gen up. Again, only really relevant in CQs, but that has its uses.

Holmes is as supportive as saberlot. Well, yes, you kinda used them as support (saberlot as star generator, Holmes as crit damage buffer), but most of times, you'll use them as a main offensive servant because their skillset is just too selfish to support anyone

This is way more interesting, tbh. Not only are you allowing his lore to seriously inform his playstyle, you aren't choking his potential as a unit by forcing him to semi-support.

While holmes would be cool to get, I'm mostly in it to potentially get lancer arturia and/or da vinci and maybe np2 schez. And by uttering this, I am probably gonna get him to np3 before I even get my first columbus.

With Traums release on NA, I’ve been waiting for a good time to pull for Holmes. While niche, he’s a great support for challenge quests where you’ll need ignore invincibility. Ignore defence or want to lay some fat crits with whoever your dps is - can’t wait. Holmes is going to come home and it doesn’t hurt that story wise he has been so intregral. 😊 [edit: shoulda added - video is still way relevant in 2024! his receiving a buff soon on NA as well for a 50% np charge :)]

His release is so ill timed though for those of us who want him, especially since Summer 1 re-lite has not come yet. On a different note, can we get a set of videos rating the Bond CE's? It would help since we all have limited space in our Primary and Second Archive CE slots in the long run so knowing which ones to keep and which ones to burn would be a little helpful.

I´ve been using him with caster gil and saberlot, and the crits absolutely destroy the enemies. the best ticket roll ever

I would definitely recommend leveling 3 > 1 > 2 rather than 3 > 2 > 1 tbh. The debuff immunity seems a lot more situational and I usually wouldn't want him gathering crit stars over someone else. Personally I'd much rather have more crit stars on a shorter cooldown, plus the shorter cooldown on the NP seal is actually really good.
