FGS Laminated Glass Delamination and degredation

SGP will look very blue along the edge if either the YID is off (material) or the laminated glass was cooled too slowly after the autoclave (manufacturing). Neither is ideal. Both SGP and PVB will eventually fail if exposed to portland cement which is often the case when wet glazed in a balustrade system. Best case is to use dry glaze as pointed out in the video. Codes generally require either toughened or heat strengthened laminated glass in railing systems, but when the top is exposed, like in the railing in the video, there is a very real possibility of the something impacting the edge of the glass resulting in the glass breakage. While this isn't going to affect the safety aspects of the glass, which is the reason for using laminated in the first place, it will require replacing the broken panel.

So how would you fix that or stop the Delamination?

you can't, it has to be replaced

@@gregcorwin8316 If you got a great deal (Price) on some windows that were stating to Delamination would you buy them and how would someone fix that problem?

@@troyfrei2962 once they start to delaminate there is nothing that you can do to fix it. If the glass is removed from the cause of the delamination it might stop propagating, but you can't undo whatever has already happened. I might consider buying windows with delaminated glass depending on their current condition (how bad is it) and the potential for further problems. Also I would consider where and how they would be used. At best I would be hesitant.

@@gregcorwin8316 If you could buy a one of those windows if the size of the window was ~ 4 feet by ~8ft for $20.00 . (They would be remove for a building). Would you buy the window?

@@troyfrei2962 How bad is the delamination and what are you using it for? Is it a complete window or just glass?
