FHD UNBOXING King Kong 1:12th scale 6x6 CA30 Chinese Licensed ZiL-151 RC Kit IN DETAIL and CLOSE UP

This is a bit long, but I wanted to do justice to this kit as I don't feel there are many videos which do so. It is gorgeous and beautifully presented.
I got a proper touch on this beauty. Banggood are doing them at a very good price at the moment (Feb'20) here:

and I had a further 20% off coupon so it arrived for a few pennies short of £270 without import fees or any shipping whatsoever. Boom
This is a lot of metal, a lot of wood and a lot of plastic for that price. Full time 6x6 drivetrain unlike the smaller CA10 which is RWD thru an unlocked diff.
About the real truck -
The design started life as a Russian Zil-157 military truck which was produced after WW2 but featured double bogie setups on the rear axles. In the 50's China started making them - licensed? - in their own factories as the CA30 with single wheels on the rear axles.
So, this is a Chinese truck, not Russian. Interesting!

The Kong is a super looking kit and you did well not to get import fees that now will be more. The Cross driveshafts have changed on my MC8c, they do not have the coil spring holding the pin but a one piece split band and i'm not a fan of the coil springs because I had one fail. I love the banded leaf springs they are so detailed. The axles a strange set up a double output, only worry you like water and the wheel bolts could rust. The body is very nice and I looks like screw together better than the cross glue all. Looking forward to the build :-)

Yeah proper touch. Interesting design change and impressive that they continue improving eh? These look OK as the coil is flush in its own channel so may not wander too much. Still, heatshrink is easy to add.

Really Awesome u got one I have one as well Definitely a lot of Scale bolts to put on but it was still a lot of fun... On the rear leaf Springs the silver piece in the middle make sure you pop that off and add locked tight on to the bolt🙂

AnT R/C Ace. You're basically doing what I was wondering about with this kit - I've been looking at them wondering if you can get bigger, more capable tyres under there, and also how much articulation you can get out of the front axle. Basically, how trail-capable you can make it. I'd kind of written it off on cost grounds with shipping/import tax (and concerns about spare parts...), but I didn't know Banggood was doing it for that price... hmmm! Can't wait to see your build, especially as I'm assuming you'll paint it (and really well), which most other youtubers I've seen haven't done at all. 👍

@@rccrawlersmid-wales645 Tel and I have gone back and forth about these KK trucks, including the mudmonster varient because of how badly they seem to ride, in general, on YT videos. The CA10 was to be my choice until I realised it was RWD thru an open diff, which basically meant it would be either hopeless or require driving in a non-scale manner to make progress. This at least should be able to hold its own off road. Suspension is a thing, yes. At least the rear has pivoting articulation, and as I said I'm going to weigh the chassis down as much as poss to force the leafs to work where possible and cut down the bouncing around hopefully. But articulation at the front looks a non-starter, though that looks entirely in keeping with the 1:1 so I'll def have to sort my scale driving chops out. I haven't ruled out putting a 55T in it to make me keep the speed down lol.

AnT R/C Funny, I was just the same with the C10. Wondered if it was possible to make it 4wd with a CA30 front axle, but that gets into parts availability again. Good work with this unboxing, and I look forward to seeing it all take shape!
