Davy Jones 100% needs his own movie where he falls in love with Calypso, and looks after those who died at sea for 10 years and then at the end of the movie we see him happily waiting for Calypso, but she doesn’t show and then we see him scream in anger as the sun sets and break down in tears. That would be the most depressing movie ever and I want- no… I NEED TO SEE IT!

The difference between them is Davy Jones was truly betrayed and Anakin was propelled by his fear. Anakin tried to stop her fate of death but he only sealed it. Jones was heartbroken because he did the job she gave him and when they could be together she wasn't there. That truly broke his heart I believe that is were the cruelty came in. He clammed up to never be hurt again but still he couldn't deny his feelings and yet he was too far gone to change his fate. He tried to but he only delayed it but now he can be with Calypso forever. But even that said Calypso doesn't deserve him.
@just_amir213 жыл бұрын
@@Los_Sensacionales by all means Anakin has been betrayed by the council multiple times. The fact that they openly dont trust them, they let Anakin on the council but wont make him master, they dont tell Anakin about the secret mission of obi-wan where he has to fake his death making Anakin believe for a really long time he was really dead. Betrayal is an point of view. In the eyes of Anakin the jedi were the ones who betrayed him because Palpatine got in Anakins head and said so. Anakin turned for Padme but he stayed because he let himself believe the Jedi were truly after the power of the senate and not true peace.

Beginning We see that Davy Jones was just a boy who lived close to the coast. He was the son of a lowly metal worker, but he was never truly interested into the craft, he was much more interested in music and poetry. Whenever his father gets drunk and scolds him, he would hide at the beach; the sound of the unending waves had always brought a sense of peace to Davy Jones. He loved the ocean, its beautiful sound, its infinite combinations of waves crashing into one another, unpredictable yet mysteriously beautiful, like a woman. The goddess of the sea, Calypso was touched by the boy's pureness and love, she then transformed into a human girl to meet with the boy. The two fell in love very quickly, and Davy had learnt enough from his father to have made two matching music boxes; one for himself and one for his one and only love. The Attack Until one day, the pirates attacked Davy Jones' village and his home was burnt to the ground. his family and friends butchered before his eyes. Davy, having very nearly escaped death, drifted into the ocean on a wooden debris, dying from his wound and dehydration, he was approached by Calypso. The Contract "Do you fear death?" Calypso asked Davy, as an immortal goddess, the concept of death has always fascinated her. Delirious and thought it was a hallucination from dehydration, Davy Jones did not question how Calypso, his love appeared to him in the middle of the ocean. yet, he answered "I fear the thought of never meeting you again." "You can be with me, always" Calypso told Davy, "if you would serve as my captain, my guide to the souls who are lost at sea." Calypso also told Davy Jones that if he accepts, he would be to be able to only set foot on land once every ten years; for the magic to remain unbroken. Davy Jones agreed. Ten years, he devoted himself to the duty he was charged with. Ten years, he looked after those who died at sea. Finally, when they could be together again; Calypso was not there to meet him. It was true, Calypso loved Davy Jones, as a mortal. Now that he had completely devoted himself and became cursed, Calypso no longer found Davy Jones fascinating nor beautiful. It is then, Calypso realised that " a thing is beautiful not because it lasts. A candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long, and Davy Jones was once a beautiful boy who was pure and knew not fear and death. And now Calypso see something that reminds her of herself, an immortal who had no purpose in life nor have the freedom to act as they pleased. She had corrupted him, and she could not live to see him again, for it pains her heart to see what he had become. Davy Jones waited on the promised island. He waited and waited, until he realised that Calypso was not coming... The Rage Outraged. Davy Jones cursed Calypso and renounces her contract, her love and her. It caused him to become cursed, and his body underwent drastic changes as punishment for breaking the contract between him and Calypso. He then sought the pirates to bind Calypso into her human form. This time for good. The Silent Tear After it was done, Davy Jones felt nothing. He was hollow inside, his love betrayed him and locking Calypso in her human form did not fill the void she left behind. Life was indeed cruel, when revenge did not bring him peace and his love did not bring him reciprocation. Filled with relentless hate, love, rage and sorrow, Davy Jones cut out his heart and locked it in a chest along with all the love letters and poetry he had given her. The man who Davy Jones was had died, now he was left a husk, a monster that knew not love or pain, a being that was both alive and dead. As he closed the chest, he realised that there was one item missing, and it was the music box he had in his pocket. Davy Jones took it out and let the music play; as soon as the music played; memories of their love danced into his mind, and brought Davy Jones to tears. He could not let go of the box and kept it on him on all times, as a token of what once was. He shall bear this pain for eternity and remember the times they were together, for it was the only thing he had left that made him feel "human". An untainted memory, a remembrance of the life that Davy Jones once had which brought him the only peace he had known.

Poor English aside, yes... A villain is merely a victim of their world; someone who doesn't have the power to rise above their own hatred, but enough to cast it upon others... Every broken man was broken for a reason. We can only hope they find salvation before their sins become inexcusable...

@SSKPG5 жыл бұрын
Clint Eastwood well that brings up a really interesting philosophical question. Because your right! If the movie was written from the perspective of Davy Jones it could have easily been a story about him heroically trying to find his lost love. But taking two steps back you start to realize everyone in those movies acts selfishly and tries by any means necessary to obtain thier goal. So what makes a villain a villain? Because you can easily flip the narrative on any good story and make it to Where the “ bad guy” and “good guy” are interchangeable.

He played fiercely on his organ, the sounds echoing and screaming throughout the swaying ship, her voice singing along passionately in his mind, so loud and tangible that it was as if she was there beside him. Their song haunted him; her words even more. He played, as if the song would bring her back. Back to him. His heart belonged to the sea, but the sea could never be contained. She was an eternal force, and mortality could not stop what is ageless. And so he played, because he still loved her, for no matter how many times she broke his heart, his heart would always belong to her, and hers to his. She was the only key that could unlock his cold, detached heart.

Davy Jones was not always a terrible tyrant He was just a normal pirate who felt betrayed by the love of his life, the sea. But sadly he hasnt realized that calypso never betrayed him. Calypso is the sea and by breaking her promise she keeps davy on the sea and so on her side for eternity. He was just a human and for that reason He could never understand the actions of a goddess. In the end He died at sea and became one with Calypso.

The story of a man falling for a girl is one as old as time. Only in this case, the girl was none other than Calypso the immortal goddess and the man was a young sailor who wore his heart on his sleeve. One day, as the sailor began to age, he realized that his time with calypso was limited and he begged for a way to stay with her for eternity. He gave up his pure heart and good looks to become the feared Davy Jones, a figure who was more myth than man, all in hopes of seeing his one true love once every ten long years. And yet even after all he had sacrificed in her name calypso did not give him the same love in return. Cast away and heart broken, the immortal Davy Jones became the true monster of the sea we know today. Described as a monster by his true love, and yet he is a monster of her making.

@@isaacccccccccccc that's...kinda bad (like most stories re jesus)...probably why it was never a movie lmao. Also it wasn't jesus, part of the deal with the devil would be that he 'would sail the ship unto port even when Judgement Day came' the devil heard this and took him up on it. The flying dutchman will never dock, it will stay at sea forever, the capt and crew will live forever in exchange for their souls (which, when you're caught up in a storm and are gonna die anyway, is completely reasonable). However, the real ship was renowned for travelling extremely fast, from Netherlands to Java (Indonesia) in 3 months. Lots of people thought he made a deal with the devil, Captn Bernard Fokke was his name, upon encountering other ships other members of the crew tried to pass messages to people clearly dead for years. Theres also this image, which looks uncanny to the 'up is down' part en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flying_Dutchman#/media/File:Superior_mirage_of_the_boats_painting.jpg "It is a common superstition of mariners, that, in the high southern latitudes on the coast of Africa, hurricanes are frequently ushered in by the appearance of a spectre-ship, denominated the Flying Dutchman. The crew of this vessel are supposed to have been guilty of some dreadful crime, in the infancy of navigation; and to have been stricken with pestilence ... and are ordained still to traverse the ocean on which they perished, till the period of their penance expire." - John Leyden Also, could this be capt Barbossa? "One account states that on the voyage out to Botany Bay a conspiracy was hatched by the convicts on board to seize the ship. Barrington disclosed the plot to the captain, and the latter, on reaching New South Wales, reported him favourably to the authorities, with the result that in 1792 Barrington obtained a warrant of emancipation (the first issued), becoming subsequently superintendent of convicts and later high constable of Parramatta.[". Explains why he became a constable in the later ones en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Barrington aha! And this is Sparrow: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Ward "Ward and his colleagues deserted and stole a small 25-ton barque from Portsmouth Harbour.[4] Ward's comrades elected him captain, one of the earliest precedents for pirates choosing their own leader.[5] They sailed to the Isle of Wight and captured another ship, the Violet, a ship rumored to be carrying the treasure of Roman Catholic refugees.[6] The ship turned out to be empty of treasure, but the enterprising Ward used her to capture a much larger French ship. Poor Jones. You didn't understand. She was there. Every rolling wave, every rock of the ship, every storm in the sky, every drop of rain; she *is* the Sea. You married the Sea, but you couldn't accept her for what she really was. You wanted her to fit in your needs without considering hers. How much closer could you have been, to sail upon her salty surface for eternity, every spray of mist her palm upon your cheek? Together at all times, she the wild and untamed expanse of waters, you the stoic shepherd of the dead performing a thankless task with only your true love's watery whisper to keep you company? You cut your heart out for her... But you *broke* hers.
@ariajohnson81075 жыл бұрын
Then Jones should have drowned the Brethren and freed her. He can only set foot on dry land once every ten years? I didn't see his crew having that issue. And yes; her very nature as the Sea meant she was fickle and untamable. She could be trapped in a human shell, but she was constantly waiting for him to set her free. Of the two, she stayed the most loyal, and true to herself. In my opinion.
@orbitingsentientsatellite43615 жыл бұрын
Aria Johnson ok, did my research. Apparently. After she didnt even take effort to show herself throughout those ten years and time after time when i would go ashore looking for her. She wasnt there. I plotted with the court to put her in human form. After we did that the pain and regret i felt after that caused me to carve my heart out and lock it away forever. And some sap decided to find it to force me to do his bidding. Making the kraken, and forcing souls to permanently serve on my ship. And then the court freed her. We still loved each other. So in one final epic battle, i went down. Finally with her again. As it should be. (And we were still smitten with each other) so yeah. But seriously. She was a god. She couldnt take the effort to show herself or give a sign at all. I think she learned her lesson though. So its all good

RANT TIME What makes a good villain is their backstory, the part that no one knows about but explains why the character does what he/she does or turned "evil". Davy Jones is a villain with depth, character and an amazingly emotional and heartbreaking backstory that Bill Nighy depicted spectacularly. "Love is a viscous motivator." (Sherlock quote) Taking this into consideration he turned cruel because the woman he loved and gave everything(his freedom) to serve betrayed him on a whim. Also, can someone explain to me why Calypso didn't fucking show up, like I know you're a goddess and all that but you supposedly loved him so dont go and break his heart. The best thing about Davy Jones' character is the fact that despite everything that she cost him, his heartbreak being the reason he turned into a "monster" and carved his heart out, he still loved her. His heart still beat for her despite acting on vengeance and trapping her. Literally. His last words were 'Calypso'. I really absolutely love Davy Jones' character and would like to see him redeemed and returned in the 6th movie if there is going to be one.

"The king and his men stole the queen from her bed, and bound her in her bones." That's the Pirate King, Davy Jones, of the first Brethren Court, and the nine pirate lords, stole the goddess Calypso from her bed of the sea, and bound her in human form. "The seas be ours, and by the powers, where we will, we'll roam." "Oh, we claimed the sea for ourselves, aye, but opened the door to Beckett, and his ilk!" "Now some have died, and some are alive, and others sail on the sea." Referring to the pirate lords. Some are dead, like Sao Feng, others are alive, like Jack Sparrow. And others are neither, but sail on the sea regardless, like Barbossa. "with the keys to the cage, and the devil to pay, we lay to Fiddler's Green." They carry the nine pieces of eight, the keys to Calypso's cage, and the only one to contend with is that devil, Davy Jones. And they lay to Fiddler's Green, the afterlife for sailors, a heaven to the Locker's hell. "The bell has been raised from its watery grave, hear its sepulchral tone." The song has been sung, a death knell for the age of pirates. "A call to all, pay heed the squall, and turn your sails toward home." The song calls a final meeting of the Brethren Court, all the lords must sail to Shipwreck Cove, the home of pirates if ever there was one.

I love his reaction when she says it's her nature. He just flinches and when he tells her he doesn't love her, he can't even bring himself to face her when he says it

Davy jones and anakin skywalker are a clear example of how love can corrupt a mans heart and unleash evil

Do Suchti I saw this comment in the other Davy Jones theme. And I’m pretty sure Anakin’s evil thanks to Palpatine manipulating him.

Davy Jones is the most relatable villain to me. I know his pain all too well for 6 years I’ve been holding out hope for someone so yeah I know this pain and it’s why the lyrics hit deep for me at least

My girlfriend showed this song to me about a year after we started dating but it tears me apart to listen to it she passed away 2 years ago after getting hit by a drunk driver but on our anniversary I listen to it every year

Drunk drivers are absolutely terrible. Truly a despicable and selfish act to drive under the influence of anything. I'm deeply sorry for your loss. I truly hope she's resting peacefully.

I know this is just a fan-made added lyrics but... This really feels like it should have been at the end of the second of the third movie. It's amazing. I mean I normally don't feel bad for the villains but this made me feel sympathy for Davy Jones. Nice work!

Davy Jones carved his heart out and locked it up in a chest, and hid the chest from the world. And even though he seems like a monster to a lot of people, I don't see him as one. I never have, never will. I know he is a good man and that good man is still inside of him somewhere, he just can't show it. But I will never hate him, nor try to hurt him. David Jones is a good man
@tyler62664 жыл бұрын
he was a good man but he carved out his heart. the extent of time he is separated from his heart that he has locked away is the extent he is lost from the land of the good.

@@nithin1729s Will turner was dying and could not carve out his heart. His father (Bill "bootstraps" Turner, had the dagger and if you like closely in the scene shortly before Sparrow and Swan escape, he stabs Will Turner and carves his heart out.
