I filed a K1 visa and had a customary marriage (not a civil one). Her family in the foreign country all see customary marriage as an engagement. We've been approved from USCIS and it's awaiting NVC. I am hoping to not have to start all this over

I was told spousal visa 1 year or longer fiances visa 7 months minimum

That was before covid. K1 visa is upwards to 18 months or even two years.
