We talk a lot about the disabled person's struggles. Thus, the caregiver's daily struggles of caregiving is often minimized. In my opinion both parties have to be sensitive and acknowledge the daily challenges faced in both roles.

I can't say enough how much I LOVE LOVE LOVE this vlog! I love when boyfriends/girlfriends/husbands/wives are willing to step in our shoes and try to do what we do every day to gain perspective and insight. It's so admirable and it really speaks volumes about the persons character. You got a good woman Cole. Charisma, honey, don't worry. I have been in a wheelchair for at least 27 years (I'm 31) and I still run into stuff and puts holes in walls and doors and cabinets DAILY (AND THAT'S ON A GOOD DEPTH PERCEPTION DAY...WHEN IT'S BAD IT'S MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY). You did a great job and the best thing is you learned from it. Way to go!

I have to say I so appreciate these videos obviously the love and laughter...but since I have been watching your channel I now look at the world differently for friends that do have disabilities. I realize now how accessability in places still has a long way to go. Our house for instance, would be a nightmare for someone who relies on a wheelchair or even a walker for that matter. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos to open the eyes of those of us who don't deal with accessability issues day to day so that we can make changes. All the love for you two! :)

You find that the things people do in chairs, is not as easy for an able-bodied person to do it. It cracks me up when people try and move my power chair. To me it’s so easy and to them it’s a task that they often can’t do. You did pretty good charisma for your first time. I often put up wall guards in my apartment to protect the corners.

My best friend has Parkinson's and we have had so many moments like this. She has a WONDERFUL spirit and we sometimes laugh so hard at the things (damage) we have done with her wheelchair. The most memorable was me pushing her down a street to go to a parade. The front wheel VERY suddenly got trapped in a hole in the blacktop and she went flying!! (She would not wear her seatbelt!) I freaked out! She was lying face down on the street top and I saw her back moving up & down because I thought she was crying, hurt & in pain. NOPE! She was laughing so hard she didn't have the strength to even roll over. 🤦 Then of course BOTH of us are sitting in the middle of the street laughing so hard we couldn't breathe. With some very nice people, we got her standing up and back into her chair. Oh, we had an AWESOME time at the parade too. *(the street was closed to car traffic)

You should look into a hoyer lift for bed and toilet. They make portable ones but they also make permanent ones. They install the track in your ceiling and they can run track from your bed to the bathroom. Cole, if you have the shoulder strength you might be able to transfer yourself using the attachment that goes under the armpits. Otherwise, with a sling underneath, you can still be independent.
