drived a Fiat 131 1300 break from 1977 to 2000. yes 23 years, and sold in perfect state. was surprised when i saw that car in 2018 on the road!!! i imagine that she still on the road

Owned a 77' Mirafiori 4 door sedan, a 78' Brava 4 door sedan & a 79' Brava wagon. They were the best of the best. In total [before my legs were amputated] owned 11 Fiats during a thirty year period [some of the best days of my life]. When time travel is perfected I will go back and own them again [grin].

Cliff Newman my dad owned a 1981 fiat 131 1600cl, the ohv version. Apart from horrendous rust, (he bought the car in 85 and by 88 it was seriously rotten), the only thing that went wrong from 1985 to 1990 was a broken fan belt. Never once did it fail to start, even during some very harsh winters. Never once did he service it or change a timing belt,and he regularly dispatched 1600 escorts from the lights to show off to me as I was a ten year old boy, and if he walked to work all week, the car would still start after sitting so long. I don't recall any brand new cars to go 5 years with so little trouble, and lack of servicing!!An amazing car that I'd rather have than any modern fiat
