Bought a 'dark blue 67 Fiat 850 Coupe in 1967 when I was stationed in Germany. Loved that car. Would do 100mph on the autobahn and 105 when drafting :-) Threw a rod when taking it to port for shipping to L.A. Did rebuild and fix the engine. Drove it for another year when I traded it in on a '69 Fiat 124 Coupe in 1970. Great little car for only $1535.Later (1971) raced in SCCA Fiat 850 Spyder (owned 3) which was also great fun.

One of my cousins saw one on a family trip to the old village in Italy and her father bought her one after they got back to America. Her sister liked it so much that Daddy bought her her own 850, but the spider version. If I recall, because of smog regulations in the US the engine displacement was reduced to just over 800cc because at the time cars would be exempt from smog regulations if they were under 50 cubic inches in American measurement. My 124 spider with 96hp felt like a Chevrolet Corvette compared to those 850’s! Both girls traded their cars in for Datsun 240z’s when those came out.

Very nice looking Fiat 850 sport coupe. Love the green paint. Also looking that someone put a lot of effort and money to restore it. But it pays out to show up with a car that doesn't have everyone around. Also interesting story about the car. And the grill on the back is really cool.

This car is very important to me as it was our family car in the early 1970s. You could say this was what got me interested in cars. I heard there was one at the 'Classics on the Common' in Harpenden. Though I was there, somehow I missed it, well done for filming it!
