Fiat Panda 100HP - BTG

Lap 5/6:
First lap with no passenger, and ESP and ABS disconnected - Freedoooom!
(would really like the ABS back though!) The car was faster without my 115kg passenger obviously, and to my surprise, it behaved a lot different.
Highlights of the lap were: 911 wiggle at Schwedenkreuz - saved by electronics.
I made a lot of small lock ups, and one big one at Aremberg, just behind the wiggly Porsche.
Overtook a bunch of slow cars including a Tesla at Bergwerk ;)
I hi-lighted the speedo in this one; 12 o'clock is 120 km/h
Top speed was approx. 195 km/h in Fuchs röhre.
Average speed from bridge to gantry was 123 km/h.

My first time in 3 years on the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife - Good to be back!
Having only driven the ring in my beloved old Fiat Panda 1.2 with 60 Hp (and my Eunos Roadster in granny tempo), the extra power in my 100HP made a really big difference! The 6 speed box was really well spaced for the ring as well, which helped a lot to pull me and my friend up the hills - combined weight for us is around 215kg :)
The car:
2007 Fiat Panda 100HP 1.4 16v with 227.000 km, but still going strong.
Almighty annoying ESP system, slowing us down.
185/55R15 Continental ContiEcoContact - slowing us down :D
The eco tyres were an attempt to lower the grip enough, to make the ESP system leave me alone - it didn´t work. We deactivated it by lap 4/6 by unplugging the R.R. ABS sensor.
Because of the high tyre profile, the car is 5% higher geared than with the standard 195/45R15 fitment.
Camera setup:
Main camera: LG V40 107* wide angle lens on homemade wooden mount on 3 chassis points.
Rear camera: Good old Sony Xperia SP
Foot camera: Sony AZ-1 Action cam 170* lens.

Just found your channel. You don't fail to impress. I love how the fast cars (like the Porsche) try to 'easily get past the panda' but you get back at them in the bends.

Excellent driving also showing your footwork! Compliments and looks like you know the circuit well. Please try and do a lap with the standard 195/45R15 on the Goodyear F1 GSD3 tyres it cames with if possible to see if the time will be better or worse! Car sounds epic. I also own a Panda 100hp and the only modification I have done is to put a BMC mesh air filter on it but I wish to fit a better exhaust system headers to rear, and also to get a lighter engine hood, since it it so heavy! Would really like to see more of your panda in other videos! More please!

Thanks for the nice compliments :) 195/45s would be better on the ring, because of the lower gearing, the 10mm wider thread, and therefore more grip. + The F1s will have loads more grip than my 7 year old Eco contact 5s - lol My car was also 4.8% higher geared than standard with the 185/55s, which doesn't sound like a lot, but on a one tonne car with 100 horsepower, it's quite something. That said, I could never have ridden the curbs as hard with the 195/45s. The sidewalls are very stiff, and the 100hp's over dampened suspension, would make it even more like driving a bouncy castle. I think 195/50 would be a good compromise, so that will be the size of my next set. I would like to get a bit of weight of the car as well, but it has to be on the front, as the rear is very light, so a hood is a good place to start for sure - maybe a lighter battery too. Lap 6/6 will hopefully be up soon, which was my fastest lap - so stay tuned :)

@@testacorsa150 Welcome for the complements! I just changed all four tyres even if my car has done now from new, only 6,500 miles or 11,000km, because I used it only in summer and very little. However Good Year told me the current production F1 GSD3 195/45 R15, the smallest size for the F1 GSD3, had the tyre compound updated in 2019 to be much more similar to its latest F1 Asymmetric. I did look at Continental but the only tyres they have in 195/45 R15 is the sportcontact 2, a much older compund even if it is asymmetric tread pattern instead of the GSD3 directional tread pattern.

Thanks :) I drove on 7 year old Continental ContiEcoContact (185/55R15) 🙈 Hard a a rock, and no grip 😁 Only one way to find out how fast your Fiat is to go there. I can only recommend it, if you haven't been there yet!

@@pereldh5741 Sorry for the late reply. I just watched a few of your videos. I can't even remember when I last saw a Fiat Agenta. It was a rare beast where I'm from, even when new. Cool car !
