i had one of these in saudi arabia,I used it from 1991 to 2000 without changing anything,just engine oil and brake pads,very reliable and tough car❤

This car was so much ahead of its time, if quality and reliability were good back then, Fiat would be among leading car manufacturers today.

I had one of these - fantastic inside in it's day. A great quirk was you'd lock it (central locking), walk away and you'd hear it unlock. Also, the speedo failed on it - but to the max, I was sitting in traffic watching my odometer clock up at around 140Mph (the max pin). Ultimately reverse lunched itself - meaning a new gearbox, and with this model, the engine was transverse the other way around... I know this as we put a TC105 engine in it complete with twin, twin Dellorto 40's to socked trumpets (we couldn't fit an air box). That thing sounded and went fantastically for a few months until all the oil decided to exit hammering down a dual carriageway. Such excellent car memories!!

Oh my God, I have owned one of this model in 1990, I just love that car and the1600 105hp motor is fantastic, I would like to have one again, my car is a Grande punto multijet with all the gear you can put in a car, I would not think about it two seconds of swapping it away for a Regatta...

The carburated version (pre-facelift, with the square door handles) was our family car in the mid '90s... seriously comfy (those plush back seats were a godsend after a Lada...), but unreliable as fuck. Ours was a 1985 model (see ad here : kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZmK6Y3Wlms91Y8U ), with all those LED gizmos and pushbutton heater controls... that never failed to act up. FIAT at the time went in heavy with flashy electronics (see also the Uno Turbo Digitale of similar vintage), but it was premature and riddled with technical issues.

Yes, the dashboard on mine always lit up like a Christmas tree with false alarms. Mine was a real rust bucket, but a lovely car to drive.

Hi, same here regata 85s model 1988 carburated version was our first family car and we bought it used in 1998,my father loved it but it was indeed unreliable, you need to baby Italian cars and my father was always on point with service schedules. After some years we donated it to my uncle and he blew the engine within a year. Rest in peace Dad I will always remember you and our regata

My 1st car was a Fiat Regata 85s. It was 10 year old when i bought it in 1995. I had alot of problems with it one after another until the cam belt broke and killed the thing. I swore i would never ever buy a Fiat ever again.a horrible car i wouldn't give to my worst enermy.
