I love that soft green. It reminds me of the beautiful jade bracelets worn by consorts in the Forbidden City in historical Chinese Dramas. There were also hair decorations and pins worn by those women as well. Gorgeous color, you did so well in dying that fleece. An odd self discovery I've recently come to recognize, totally unexpected, is that I found I love spinning more than I do knitting and crochet. Don't get me wrong here. I do love knitting and crochet. But blending fiver and colors, then spinning it into yarn is a deeper love. How contrary is that??? I have more yarn than I have WIPs or plans for new projects. Can you tell me dear fiber sister, what do YOU love best? I wish the video had lasted longer. I'm looking forward to seeing it spun. When you make the spinning video, can you put a link to this one, so I can look back again on it before watching the spin? Love and hugs, and my prayers to you.

I'm definitely with you on the love for spinning the yarn more than using it, hence why I dont have many handspun items lol xx

I will do my best to remember to add the click card in the corner. It will more than likely get spun either on a spin and Story time or during TDF xx

What pretty, floofy, squishy batts! Gorgeous! And that suffolk looks sooooo much nicer than the grey suffolk sample I had in my breed study. ❤ Tamantha

@knitspingirlcreations it's better hand processed than it is from a mill I have found. Thanks for watching tamantha xx

Hi Sadie. It was nice to see that I am doing things right. I stuffed a knitted teddy bear with leftovers. Probably can’t ever wash him or all that stuffing will felt into a lumpy bumpy mess.
@sadiesspincraft63195 күн бұрын
You should be able to hand wash and for drying don't squeeze. If you can put in a spin dryer, if not, go outside with it wrapped in a towel inside a mesh bag and swing it in circles so all the water spins out, then leave to dry. I hope this makes sense and works out for you much love and light x

I'm looking forward to hearing how the Suffolk spins up. I've been wanting to try some. We used to have a couple of farms around me that raised Suffolks, but no more. I need to find someone near with some. 😁

I'm hoping to spin it up either during a spin and Story time or TDF as I'm getting plenty ready for that. Welcome to the fiber family much love and live x

Love it! What kind of drum carder do you have? I am almost 75 years old so I should not really even think about this but…! Knowledge is power!

Grandma D & C always said waste not, want not. It never really dawned on me until I goofed up my share of "experiments" that had I not wasted anything, I wouldn't have the want of it. I picked through my border leister bfl cross. Have a lot of nappy lengths that look\act like leg fluff. Big hugs!

Exactly and that's the whole point of doing experiments so we know what works best for us. Bug hugs twinny xx

Another comment Sadie! Will you be posting a video on Distaff day, Jan. 7th? It would be a great togetherness day for us, and celebrating the ancient traditions of Spinners from or history. And we could see you actually spinning with the new drop spindles you got for Christmas!!! Please, please please?🙏🙏🙏🙏

@EtherealOde I don't have a distaff and never used one but I will promise to make one for next year and do a live on distaff day and we can all spin together xx
@EtherealOde3 күн бұрын
@@sadiesspincraft6319 Oh Sadie! You don't have to use or own a distaff! It is uses by some spinners, but the celebration means we can once again pick up our spindles and go back to spinning! In the old times, the 12 days after Christmas were meant to be days free from work, both men and women. And Distaff day was when women could return to one of their main duties, which was spinning. The distaff came before the actual spinning wheel was developed, and was an easy way to carry a larger amount of fiber. Now we rarely use them, because we can put the fiber in a bag or basket or even our laps as we spin. I have 2 distaffs, mainly because of the affection I hold for the women in our history who carried their work with them everywhere. One is small, a wrist distaff with a 5 inch long wood piece to wind the fiber on. The other is actually a handmade wand, my daughter has it for me in the USA. If you have a Harry Potter replica wand (I suspect you might given all the Potter world items I've seen in your videos) then all you need is the wand and a ribbon to hold the fiber in place once you wrap the wand full of wool! Do a Google or Wiki search and you can see how the old ones were made. And you can even see how the first spinning wheels were made with a holder for the distaff too! Now, they are mainly an item of fondness for the past, though some actually use them particularly in historical re-enactment. My small one is mainly a Christmas ornament hahaha. Happy almost Distaff day you you and my fellow fiber lovers!

@EtherealOde ah, how very interesting, I am going to have to learn more about this my problem is the reading side lol I'm a visual learner so I may have to go and watch a few other videos. I have a packed week, but I can defo get everything ready for next year. Then I can do the information with it too. If I don't know about it I try not to talk on it until I do xx

Sadie, happy 🎊 New year. I've had 4 Shetland d fleeces from about 3 years a go and 5 Romney's from last year. How long do you think I can leave them? It was too wet last year to do any processing between house renovations and downpours in Scotland and yeah, support the farmers.

I have left it 3 years before washing before now. Don't get me wrong, there was a bit of yellowing to the tips but as I was dyeing it I wasn't too bothered xx
