I hope most people would support the designers and not buy into Drops and their bullying of shops and designers. How sad. I love that sweater. It’s for sure going to to get done before the new year. I appreciate you keeping this problem current and part of the conversation. Sending you all the good vibes. Congratulations. Baby boys are so much fun.

I agree the podcast is not too long at all! Its so nice to have long podcasts to keep company while I am knitting! I wonder if the cute little pink baby vest could be overdyed? maybe to make a lovely brown tone? and that might take care of the stain as well? The shawl you are working on looks very very nice! The little baby clothes you sewed are so nice, especially that little yellow romper!

Your shawl design looks so beautiful, I'm not usually a shawl knitter but I will definitely be keeping my eye out for when you release this pattern. I have 2 skeins of fingering weight Danish yarn which I picked up during a visit to Aarhus last year, it's a lovely autumnal reddish brown and I think it would go perfectly with your design! First off i love the long podcasts. The baby knits are so cute and tiny. I never had the privilege to be a Mom or have a baby in m life but i have a good collection of baby knit patterns why i don’t know but is do. A suggestion if you are not particularly planning on passing down the knitted items like the pink or stained one down to her for maybe her children i thought you could always dye them. I am not a dyer and don’t know the process and if this suggestion would work but for you to be safe around chemicals maybe you could tea or coffee dye them it would cover the yellow stain and make them more boy tones. I don’t know if that would hold up with lots of washings but maybe if not a natural dye might work or kool-aid or food coloring dye to mask the drewl marks. Congratulations on a boy so happy you will have one of each.

Thank you! Longer podcasts it is 😅 I’m so sentimental about the knits i’m not sure i’m brave enough to over dye them. But it’s a good idea to give things extra life

Congratulations - - - best wishes for all to go well. I have many Danish ancestors but have never been there myself. I was blown away when you said the babies sleep outside in prams. Can you elaborate on that a bit more? You're surely not speaking about during the night right?
@FiberTales6 жыл бұрын
Noo just for nabs 😉 they just take the nabs outside and for small babies it’s normal to walk them to sleep. Then you leave them with a portable baby alarm and maybe check the temperature from time to time. You often see prams like that outside cafes. A danish lady got in big trouble and almost had her child taken away for doing that in new york ( i would never have done it in such a bit city). In Denmark it’s safe 🤗
@liliawebb93776 жыл бұрын
Sissy, I can breathe again! Thank you for explaining. Yes here you may never see your child again; it is the times we live in with abductions and awful things but I'm amazed you have that much safety where you live. I'd never be able to do it and for sure to leave them unattended. There must be many guardian angels in your neck of the woods so to speak. May it all go well for you and yours.

Never heard of it but i will look into it. Do you have experience using it on knitwear 🤗
@manicspinner19596 жыл бұрын
Yes! It's made by fiber-familiar people. They sell at fiber festivals. They have different levels. Scour for scouring fleece locks (before combing and spinning); Wash for washing handknit garments, and Power for tough stains. I've gotten years-old stains out of carpets; and yes, I've used it on wool. Scour might work as well and be a bit more gentle on that pink garment. www.kookaburraco.com/ Might be able to get it on amazon as well.

Last time i explored that more than 10 companires from asia offer clothing with stolen pictures from ravelry, etsy- and ebayknitters and from yarnproducers and knitting journals. Many customers wrote, they dont receive anything ore in miserable quality. I don't know if there is any chance to stop that criminal behavior.

Note on large sweater sizes: when you're a big woman, your body has a different shape than a regular sized one. If I tried to knit a sweater to my size, I'd always end up with a potato bag, often with a neckline so huge it falls of my shoulders. For now my solution is to hack a jumper pattern: knit front my size, sleeves one size smaller and back another 2 sizes smaller. It's no wonder larger women are not into test knitting - the clothes don't really fit us. Note on pattern copyright: one problm nobody seems to mention is that copyright with regard to knitting patterns works like copyrighting a novel: you don't copyright the idea, but the text. How would you even copyright an idea? What if someone came up with it separately? I have two friends who were this way 'copied' by highly regarded designers (think Wooly Wormhead size, but not her), is their work stolen, too? So whatever Drops does is fine as long as they do their own calculations and writing - that is also quite some work, as you know! Finally a note on being a Drops seller (my friend was): they're not fun to work with, true, but it's not like they actually not let you earn money. (My friend ended working with them because a different part of her business brought in much more money.) Every promotion is accompanied by a noticeable discount from the wholesaler - this part is, according to me, entirely reasonable. What is not right in their approach is how they might or might not send your wholesale order soon or in 4 months' time, to you or to a different city in your country and in general their customer support is very bad
@FiberTales6 жыл бұрын
About the larger sizes: for me it’s very hard to have an idea about what measurements to use for larger sizes as i have no larger people among my friends/family to ask about this. I actually spend a lot of time thinking the best shaping into my patterns bit i have to use standart guidlines on measurements. That is why testers are so important. They give the feedback needed to know if a garment fits. I have also thought about the neck and cuff situation and try to take that into consideration 🤗 about drops i guess i have a bit different view as their patterns are free and they keep taking ideas straight from indiedesigbers who might live from this. But that is a bit longer conversation
@unplannedcauli6 жыл бұрын
One good practice I sometimes see is not mentioning sizes as L or M, but using actual circumferences and elaborating on the fit. A Purl Soho pattern I've recently used has this, Top + Bottom Top says about sizing: 32¾ (35, 38¼, 41½, 44¾, 47) inches. To fit actual chest circumference of 30-31 (32-33, 35-36, 38-39, 41-42, 44-45) inches, with 2-3 inches of positive ease (www.purlsoho.com/create/2017/07/19/top-bottom-top/) and follows that with more details on finished dimentions. Generally I appreciate a lot if pattern notes have this information (sometimes as a screen of one pattern page, which also lets me see the writing style to some extent), I've had friends buy patterns without it who later found out that sizing was off so much that the items couldn't fit in any size offered Sadly I can't help with actual finding testers above the usual 'try in testing groups on Ravelry' and I'm not willing to do it myself.

Do you have a “ Fair Trade “ organisation in Denmark that could look at that issue of the forced sale. That’s really unfair and cruel.
