Question.. I watched a couple of days ago when you talked about floss and supporting your local LNS by buying it there I couldn’t agree more. But were you saying that DMC 310 I might buy in a big box store is inferior in quality to that purchased in the LNS? I thought it would be made the same. I might

Mary, the problem with big box store embroidery floss is that it's handled and displayed with the same care that a bottle of paint would have under their bright lights which can cause embroidery floss colors to alter slightly. For their staff, it's just another item. The LNS will handle and display their materials with great care and not subject their goods to improper lighting. Most shops will have their floss and fabric at the back of their store so that even too much daylight is avoided so that colors are preserved properly. Also, customers don't let children run amok in the stores which I've seen all too often in many big box stores so you can be sure that the stitching materials haven't been grabbed by sticky little fingers or drooled on by a teething toddler. I'm not opposed to big box stores. I shop there for certain items. But when I need top quality for my cross stitching, I'm off to my LNS or a trusted online source such as those that sponsor this show.
