Keep in mind filling small scratches with filler will lead to those fillers telegraphing through the finish years later. If you have gone through the work to remove your top and are going to repaint it, remove ALL the old clearcoat. Clearcoat and paint expand and contract at different rates, that's why it fails. High solids clears perform better, but if applied too thick can get cloudy. Personally, I'd sand all the clear away, into the gelcoat to get beyond any wax. Yes the final gelcoat usually contains wax in it, Seal with a quality epoxy primer-sealer. Prime and block to about 500-600 grit for paint. You go too fine, the paint has less of a tooth to bite into. Save the fine stuff for when you cut the topcoat for polishing. Otherwise, good video showing what things you need to do to renew your tonneau cover.

@@oswaldocobian637 sand them out starting with 180 moving up to 320 or 400 on a block. You want a nice feathered end. Try not to get into the fiberglass. Can always send me a picture swcustoms01@gmail.com.

@@swc-diygarage Can I use a machine to sand the bed cover?

@@oswaldocobian637 sure can. Just be careful. You'll probably end up skim coating the spot anyway.
