What about acetone for thinning? Some folks have had trouble with adding alcohol as some brands may contain water...

nice, how do you know how much to mix on a large fuse, and where to stop and hide a seam, tks frank

How large is large? I glassed a 1/5 scale Hawker Typhoon a few years ago. I think I used 4oz or so. The seams aren't hugely important because with the sanding and filling they disappear anyway.

@trondyne Yes, there is a catalyst. It's a two part epoxy resin, mixed at a 1:1 ratio.

The “hardener” causes many of the reaction you suspect from Epoxy. All Epoxy hardener can be neutralized by rinsing-off with "white vinegar", which changes the chemical structure to a water-soluble compound. Next cleanse the skin by washing with warm soap and water. ... (Note: "amines" used in epoxy hardeners will pass through latex gloves)

No catalyst needed for that resin?

Hmmmm.... I don't see why not. Use an epoxy base resin, I think polyester would probably eat the foam. EPP can be slippery stuff, so I would do a test on a scrap piece of EPP first to make sure it works OK before trying it on a model and finding out id doesn't work!

Thanks Kevin! I'm glad it helped.

@rockithoney Good advice! Use gloves everybody! Some people can build up a horrible allergic intolerance to epoxy, and it's best to be safe.

good job easy to understand

@trondyne I've never tried it, so can't comment. You do need to ensure the alcohol you get is 99% or better. Read the label carefully, as some is far less than 99% and that can cause water problems.

No No..... What I mean is if I were you, I would do a test! I don't plan on using any EPP anytime in the future. Sorry. Hey, do a video and show us how it works out for you!

Man, use gloves! Vinyl gloves is a good choice for epoxy glassing.

I wonder how many people's life of crime started the moment they watched this video and realized the most economical way to fiberglass is to steal mixing supplies from their local fast food establishment.
