Just waiting for the weather here in Ohio USA. New stringers, floor and transom in a 16' 1968 Sport Craft. Bought at auction unseen last year. Motor (Renault 60hp) runs. So, with luck I'll be glassing this week.

Bad asss. Crazy beefy. Hear in the USA I have a 17 foot fiberform trihaul I stretched the bow 2 feet and flaired the rails from 7 foot wide to 8 foot wide. We are building really similar. I did 3 layers of ply on the transom and added two 2x12" stringer and two 2x6" stringers then one 2x6 keel stinger. I plan for a 225 honda

8:23 you should roll up you sheet and work it on from one side instead of just chucking it on like a bedsheet will be probably much less trapped air

Did you have to use epoxy resin or is polyester resin enough ?
@bullhippo90232 жыл бұрын
Good to see someone put some resin on, most I see act like they are afraid to put sone resin down.

Hi Nick, What did you use to fill the streaks? Also, aside from cost, are there any draw backs to doing the build with Epoxy? I am rebuilding a 1978 Grady White. I almost have the hull ready for fiberglass.

Question? Do your roller handles have the threaded opening to accept a wooden or fiberglass "broom handle"? If yes would it have been easier to roll the resin into the fiberglass (at least on your back)?
@AngryMackAdventures2 жыл бұрын
I think it would be much easier do this lol, I did think about it but the time I realised a better method I was half way there 😂😂

I don’t agree with filling the streaks.. that is a major stress point and the stringers should have been placed directly into the streaks and then glassed. Saying this from boat building experience.
@AngryMackAdventures2 жыл бұрын
Hi mark thanks for the comment. May I ask how it adds stress and the difference between filling the strakes and placing a stringer in the strake and glassing up? Later in the build the stringers are going to be placed on top and glasses over. Also the reason I have done this is because of a professional shipwrights recommendation If the boat is flexing bow to stern causing strakes to stress we got biggger issues 😂almost
@busuttilmark2 жыл бұрын
@@AngryMackAdventures when you place the wood stringer directly into the streak channel and glass it on both sides, it distributes the stress directly to the wood. Since wood has flexing properties, it avoids the possiblity to have longitudal stress cracks.
@AngryMackAdventures2 жыл бұрын
@@busuttilmark thanks mark will keep in mind. Also not using wood as stringers will be out of foam.

Hey Mack No disrespect, just wanted to let you know, from my boat building experience, you’ve use a lot of resin. When there’s too much resin, it encases the fiberglass and doesn’t really let it flex. So with less flex the resin (glass now) will crack. And I would have drilled some holes in the plywood when you applied that putty to let that putty ooze out more evenly. Obviously you’re not going to sand it all out now. So, I’d like to say, I have enjoyed your videos. Remember, hard work will get you there. I can’t wait to see what kind of power you’re gonna put in this boat. Texas
@malcolmyoungacdc Жыл бұрын
@@roblescurbappealconcreteit is a bit disrespectful. Perhaps you did not watch the full video. One can clearly see that he ultimately rolled out the excess resin.... Australia. Ok Texas.
