I want to hear more about escapism. I personally use fiction books as a crutch to get out of the monotony of daily life.

The directness of insights in self-help books is what drew me to self-help but post 3-4 readings it tends to wear out

Ohh yes!! I agree. It tends to wear off, I remember whenever I read 2-3 self help books consecutively it just seemed same thing in different pages. Also most self help books can be covered in few bullet point 🤷‍♀️ Another point I forgot to mention in the video was how narration is the basis used by almost everyone for memorizing things. Shows the lasting impact fiction can create.

Even a decent piece of literature straight out or implicitly, makes messing things up or making mistakes or showing emotions a very common thing. Where self-help plays out like a elaborate prescription, literature or even great movies, sit beside us like a friend. Literature sees us, humbly acknowledges that every single one of us messing things up more often than not, and that's fine. It makes us hate ourselves a little less, and appreciate life a little more.

I also feel like samebecause after reading a bunch of self help books I feel didn't help me at all except a few book which were really insightful on another side story books are more engaging while reading them I dont try to concentrate it just happens automatically.

@@Thehigherlifevibes not low in particular it's just Lil things like sticking one editing style/theme and fonts throught the vid like the transitions were bit different from the intro but again these changes won't help you to convey your thought process better but your vid'll look for well produced you can also try colour grading it'll make a huge difference and if the vid was really unscripted then your oration game is on point. Subscribing to keep a track of your growth xD

Great points but I feel using this logic, video games are even better. You literally control the protagonist like you’re living his/her life. What do you think?
@Thehigherlifevibes
@Thehigherlifevibes Ай бұрын
As long as you connect it back to your own life positively it should help 🤔 However, I do think it'll be limited in it's value addition as the games are designed to target reward points in your brain and real life is a slow burner. Hence, I'll be careful in drawing parallels in this.

@@Thehigherlifevibes not all the games. It depends on the genre. Same goes for the books.

Video games also holds similar arguments when it comes to it's positive effects. Cognitive effects, problem solving, memory, etc. Empathy is dicey 😂 Hence I mentioned video games plotlines in the video
