I was lucky enough to see this show on B'Way! Molina and the rest of the cast were GREAT!!! I LOVE NYC!!! I'm not a fan of the movie with Topel, but the music saves it. The live Fiddler show is my most favorite musical. Molina is VERY talented, and Fiddler beats the pants off of Spiderman!!!

Saw this on Broadway, a guy I was in the theater with was a bottle dancer, the one on the left (what up Ricky Brown), this is an amazing musical and this needs to be remade as a movie! Come on Steven Speilberg... you know you can win some Oscars with this show! It was the most amazing musical I have ever been in! Simply perfect! Oh yeah, I got to meet Alfred Molina... he was gentle, kind and just loved everyone that wanted to talk with him. What a great human being!

the 1971 movie is so iconic already, I think it'd be difficult to make something as beloved. That being said, I'm always down for ways that the musical can reach as many people as possible :)

@@jtomyhope575 So was West Side Story and Speilberg definitely made it his own but also honoring the original. The 71 movie was incredible. Loved it!

For anyone interested what they sing at 1:45, when everyone sings at the same time and words seem incomprehensible: it's actully a very clever harmony. People are divided into 4 groups, "papas", "mamas", "sons" and "daughters", and each one sings their own part: Papas (including Molina): Who day and night must scramble for a living, Feed a wife and children, say his daily prayers? And who has the right as master of the house To have the final word at home? Mamas: Who must know the way to make a proper home, A quiet home, a kocher home, Who must raise the family and run the home, So Papa's free to read the holy book? Sons: At three I started Hebrew school, At ten I learned a trade. I hear they picked a bride for me, I hope she's pretty. Daughters: And who does mama teach To mend and tend and fix, Preparing her to marry Whoever papa picks? Followed by, respectfully, "The papas", " the mamas", "the sons", "the daughters" and then, at 2:02, "the bla-blas", as 4 groups sing who they are at the same time again. It's cool and it sounds even cooler in the studio version, which I invite you to listen to. To do it, search on youtube "Fiddler on the roof (New Broadway recording)", song is called "Tradition". What follows next is a dance that actually shouldn't be there, since it's performed at the wedding (around the middle of the spectacle) in the actual musical. But the transitions are seamless and it looks epic.

I love Alfred Molina, but he never should have been cast as Tevye. That role should only be portrayed by Jewish actors/singers.

Except for the performances in Japan and Chaim Topol once said you swap Judaism for another tradition and people could still relate to it, people of heritages have played the part so it's a dumb thing to say here in the UK we had a Iranian play the part

@@danielhead8123I mean MANY of the classic Tevyes have been Jewish though…Zero Mostel (‘65 and ‘72 Broadway), Harvey Fierstein (‘04 Broadway, ‘09 Tour), Danny Burstein (‘16 Broadway), Steven Skybell (‘18 Off-Broadway Yiddish Production), and the man many people consider to be the GOAT, Chaim Topol (‘67 London, ‘71 Movie, ‘91 Broadway, ‘06 Tour)

Genuine question because the video quality is a little blurry. Are the daughters not wearing kerchiefs or are they just not as prominant as the mamas'? I can't tell whether or not they are wearing them.
