Hi Kent. Your dedication to Fidelity is impressive. Personally, I need to see my daily lines in my 5- and 1-minute charts. Trading is hard enough without having to look at 2 separate charts of the same symbol. In a world where Tradingview didn't exist, this might be an acceptable workaround. Nice video. I like fidelity pro aside from the charts, find them to be a bit clunky
@KH-ph8do4 жыл бұрын
Hi Kent! As you've mentioned in previous video's, Fidelity does not currently have an Anchored VWAP available in their charts. I rely heavily on another charting platform which I recently started with (and pay for) to keep an eye on the A-VWAP and price action. I set up and mark-up my planned trades within and then move over to ATP after it appears a trade is ready to execute. However...I've been noticing price differences between the charting platform and ATP. I've tracked .10 to .60 + differences on a consistent basis for a variety of different stocks usually priced from $8 to $55 a share - this occurs for some but not all of the handful of stocks I'm simultaneously watching in that moment. ATP has current time stamps on the tape which I reference /compare along with the charting platform's price, therefore, I do think the delay is linked to the charting platform itself. In response to my inquiry with the charting platform, they are telling me these data discrepancies are going to occur across the board with any platform I use and that they are working on a new data feed to improve this. With your background and expertise, do you think these differences are normal to and be expected when paying for real-time U.S. stock market data?
@ThinkTradeProfit4 жыл бұрын
If I may ask, what charting platform are you relying on for A-VWAP? In my opinion, the differences shouldn't be that great (+/- .10 seems fair, but +/- .60 does not). Are you considering extended hours in those calculations for both platforms or just regular market hours?
@KH-ph8do4 жыл бұрын
@@ThinkTradeProfit I'm currently using TrendSpider. Differences I've noted are during regular market hours. I was not seeing price differences in TradingView when I used their free charting for a short time. StockCharts was delayed a bit with the Free Data Plan which their website describes as "BATS real-time data for the US", until I paid for US Real-Time data plan (described as "Official real-time data for the major US exchanges (NYSE, NASDAQ)"). Ultimately, I wanted a platform with the anchored VWAP, which they did not have at the time. TrendSpider discloses their market data as: "US equity market updates are real-time from CBOE BZX (aka BATS) exchange".
@ThinkTradeProfit4 жыл бұрын
@@KH-ph8do tradingview is BATS real-time data also, if I remember correctly. Seems suspect since you didn't see any issues with StockCharts and TradingView vs Fidelity. Hi Justin, This is unusual. I'm not sure what would cause this. Can you get real-time quotes within the Directed Trade window? (go to Main navigation > Trades & Orders > Directed Trade and Extended Hours > enter a stock symbol there) There is a subscriber agreement for real-time quotes on the web for accounts also. www.fidelity.com/customer-service/how-to-get-real-time-quotes I would agree to that if you havent. Finally, there is a setting in Active Trader Pro, General > Settings, I believe. Ensure that is set to Streaming. imgur.com/CBnwDDd I hope that helps!

HI Kent, I've been wanting to incorporate a VWAP line to my charts. I don't see it in the settings. Is there another line that you suggest using to help to determine when a stock is going on a bullish or bearish trend? I've seen you use the 50 day EMA. Thanks.
@ThinkTradeProfit3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, VWAP is not included in the charting indicators in Active Trader Pro. I use a free account at tradingview.com in a browser window on the side. They have a good VWAP indicator. But you are exactly right, while it is not equivalent, I like the 50 EMA as a general trend indicator on 1 minute charts.

@@ThinkTradeProfit Thanks Kent. Do you include premarket in your 1 minute/50 EMA chart?
@ThinkTradeProfit3 жыл бұрын
@@danielherber9710 Very good question. I do like to mark the high and low prices of premarket from 8AM ET till the open, and consider buying breakouts above or shorting below after the open. @@philmecup I believe the Best Buy person. A second monitor shouldn't be a big deal. I would get everything setup as you were ready to trade. Wait for the market to open so more data is flowing into Active Trader Pro. Search for the app 'Task Manager'. It's on all Windows PC's. Open that up with everything as you've had it before (including browsers or other applications you might use while trading). Then inspect the task manager see if there are any clues there. One of the things that bugs me the most about ATP is that you can't turn off the Wash Sale calculation of your P/L. So if I trade the same symbol multiple times, my p/l reflects the wash sale calculation, not the actual dollar amount I'm up or down for the day. I asked Fidelity on two separate occasions about this, and there is no way to override it. It's very distracting as an active day trader not to be able to take a quick glance and see an accurate P/L number for the day.
@ThinkTradeProfit4 жыл бұрын
Hey Drew, Try this. In your Positions window use the column 'Unadj Purchase Price'. imgur.com/oA6mnly That's what I use. Works fine for intraday positions (put on same day). Not sure how it acts if your looking at something held overnight.
@ThinkTradeProfit4 жыл бұрын
I wasn't thinking. You wanted P/L. Try this also - Add Unadj Short-Term G/L column to your Closed Positions window, like this - imgur.com/tpJUwKX
@transcendenttrader20784 жыл бұрын
@@ThinkTradeProfit Hey Kent, very helpful, thanks! That fixed the p/l for closed positions. For open positions, to get real-time unadjusted p/l, I added the "Unadj G/L" column. Now I'm good to go on both open and closed position. Simple fixes, wish I had thought of it. I know you use Tradervue. Another issue I'm having is when uploading trades, Fidelity doesn't provide the times of the trades, so they all get stamped as 12:00. Big problem for tracking metrics on Tradervue! Have you discovered a work-around for that one? If you're not careful you're going to become the de facto tech support for Fidelity.
@ThinkTradeProfit4 жыл бұрын
@@transcendenttrader2078 Glad that worked for you! Now the bad news... there is no workaround for the tradervue times. I manually enter all the times for my trades from the Orders window at the end of the day. It's a bit of grunt work, but you'll get faster at it over time. It's definitely worth it. Tip: (if you hadn't noticed, there is a filter at the top of the Orders window, so you can sort by ticker).

@@transcendenttrader2078 Just in case you guys haven't figured out the Trade Date issue in Fidelity. I recently started using this platform and ran into the same issue. If you go to the Settings link towards the top right of Active Trader Pro and click the History option, it will provide you the option to choose other Available Columns for your Excel export. When you choose a column it will automatically be added to the Selected Columns side to the right. I also checked the "Show Journaling Transactions" and "Show Settlement in Core Amounts" for my purposes. To export to a CSV file just go to the Orders link under the "Trade and Orders" menu option and right click on the Orders screen and choose Export to CSV. For some reason the "exporting to an Excel" file option makes the output unreadable. Hope this helps someone.
