My favorite toys are 2 smooth rocks , a smooth tangle and a rubber textured tangle , fidget cube and silky putty

Thanks for the mention, Tammy! I also like the Isoflex stress balls. You squish them in your hands and they are only a few $ on Amazon.

+Viraj Tha I was at my aunts and she has a daughter with anxiety. I also have an anxiety problem. She showed me a ring that was coiled and it was very fun and addicting to play with. I pick my nails a lot and when I used it, it was very satisfying. If I can find a website with one similar I will link it to you.

I have dermatillomania, and in my jacket I have 5 fidgets. 3 of them are toys called Gogos, they are small plastic aliens, and the rest are plastic frogs, because I love frogs. I keep them in my jacket and play with them in school. It really does help.

Spinner rings are great if you want something discreet, the fidgets from fidget land, I used to tear paper in class which distracts others so I've found that quiet things like stress balls and tangles are good for school/work settings as they are less distracting to others and won't draw attention to those who are perhaps self conscious about using items like brightly coloured wood blocks or things that click.

Great comment! Fidgets don't work if we don't want to use them. You shared some excellent, low profile solutions. Thanks! :-)

Thank you so much for putting this up! I actually came over here looking for ADHD fidgets info. I'll definitely going to second the kinetic sand. I'm going to have to look into the snake necklace. My sister has trich so I'm glad to see somebody posting help videos. Just wanted to add a link to www.therapyshoppe.com/category/8-fidget-toys . They've got an awesome collection of fidget toys.

I like to use lots of random things to stop my hands from fidgeting or to stop me from picking my fingers My favourites on is my key ring on my phone which I like to play with And sometimes when I'm wearing something with a zip on I like to run my fingers up and the zip Also great video thanks alot🐸😀😊

my son fidgets at school mostly carpet time I have made him a bracelet it has beads between 2 piece of fabric that I have sewn lines and curves along it so its like a maze thing where when he thinks I need to fidget he can move the beads from one side of the bracelet to the other he has mild dyspraxia and sensory issues I am coming up with one for adults and I was thinking like a sweat band looking one so when out and about is not noticeable do you think that is good?

I do most of my picking at night when I am in bed and sometimes I will wake up at night and start picking. I am thinking the ones you showed that can become bracelets and I could wear them to bed might help me. I will go back and listen again to see what they are called.
@Fletchertherapy8 жыл бұрын
Tangles? Those might work. I have clients also use hair ties (around the wrist), spinner rings, or regular bracelets. Picking in the middle of the night is not uncommon. Sometimes putting on lotion can help. Hang in there and thank you for your comment!

I chronically pick at my cuticles unconsciously and with anxiety to the point that ill create the spot until it bleeds and sometimes even then i cant stop. I realized it's become an issue when i used multiple tools (tweezers and other sharp items to help me pick) Ive been using sticky tack since its super stretchy and putty like as well as i have very recently got a original tangle jr that so far i love! Thank you for the great video always searching for more options 😀
@Fletchertherapy9 жыл бұрын
+Lindsay Stock I am glad the video helped! Sometimes with nail/cuticle picking (very common, by the way), nail polish, gel nails, spinner rings or small rings that people wear right below the first joint of the finger, hand lotion, and cuticle oil all can help. Keep trying anything and everything till you find what works. You can do it!
@sleppychild8 жыл бұрын
+Lindsay Stock Cuticle cutters (like angled nail clippers) are my go-to when it comes to picking. I'm going to go check out a few shops in my area for toys like these!

I would VERY highly recommend Crazy Aaron's Thinking Putty. I've been buying that stuff for years and can't imagine working without it. The stuff is AMAZING, however, I would NOT suggest any of the metallic or magnetic versions as they tend to develop a very rusty smell after just a couple months of use and the texture is a bit gritty.
@Fletchertherapy8 жыл бұрын
Crazy Aaron's Thinking Putty is the best! I get little mini tins for my BFRB clients and put tiny metal seed beads in the putty. They can play with the putty but also some enjoy pulling the seed beads out, putting them back in, etc. The only one I have been disappointed with so far is the Liquid Glass version. It has a sticky, weird texture. It looks great but touching it is gross.
@xratedpudding8 жыл бұрын
I never thought of adding beads! I think I know what I'm doing this weekend, lol! I also agree that the liquid glass was disappointing :(

A koosh ball could work too! I'm buying 2 of these and some tangles to keep my hands from picking the skin around my fingers which I do when I'm in a stressfull situation like a heavy therapy session.

Which silent toys do you suggest for a child that picks and pulls?
@Fletchertherapy7 жыл бұрын
Hi Milz...it depends a lot on the child. A very young child would need toys which have no choking hazard, for example. I would take the child to dollar store or toy stores and let them try out various textures and types of toys, seeing what they are drawn to. Do they need toys at home, at school, or ? Some toys, like kinetic sand, are wonderful but aren't very portable. Crazy Aaron's Thinking Putty is great, but needs both hands to use. The Fidget Cube by Antsy Labs is a good, portable product, but again, it depends on the child. A good fidget toy is one the child likes :-)

you should add baby toys and dog toys to your collection, they're great. they can be small and soft, or made of hard plastic. i particularly like chew toys, not for chewing on them, but for the feel in my hands.

Hi! Don't know if this will be usefulfor you but for me using a rubiks cube really helped! It might look a bit intimidating but in fact it's really mechanical and easy to once you learn I guess this won't work for everyone cause it needs some time to learn but it might be very helpful for those who have very bad urges because you have to focus on it at the beginning and there's always more tricks, patterns or algorithms to learn to keep you entertained. And if you don't want to be focused on the cube you can just repeat algorythms over and over while you're watching tv or whatever. Buuut if you're i terested on trying it keep in mind that a rubik's brand cube or a cheap cube will not work well for this as what it's relaxing is feeling it move smoothly so i would suggest a lubed cube for speedcubing. For example if you wamt something really cheap the shengshou aurora (which would be very good for this as it's slow, quiet, easy to control and very smooth) it's for about five dollars or something like that in lightake.

Can anyone help me?? I need a small toy that is not very noticeable, I go to school and when I'm listening to a lecture I pick my nails and I get extremely stressed. I use to play with paper clips and they did the job but they always broke. Is there anything small and silent that I could use?? BTW if you see this comment on other videos that's because I want as many answers as I can get

+Viraj Tha Try putting some rings or buttons on a long necklace and fiddling with them. I have done that since middle school and i am 18 now. or even just put some buttons on some string and spin the button. Thats silent and small :)

I’ve only just found this video, but places like chewygem, stimtastic, or the therapy shoppe have chewyitems like pencil toppers, zipper pulls, necklaces, bracelets and more for people who chew things. These items are made from safe silicon and are very helpful to chew instead of pens, clothing, or themselves. I know it’s late, but I hope it’s helpful
