Glad to finally see an ice hockey player who isn't screaming about how the ice version is better. Field hockey won't cause back problems if you're taught how to do it properly - AKA, knees bent. The ball also isn't very hard to control because of the way the stick is held with the left hand, letting you flip it over easily. It just takes getting used to, like most sports.

If your doing it right, your back shouldn't hurt. It isn't hard to control because y are supposed to keep the ball in front of you. If you keep it to the side, you won't be able to see what is coming up in front of you.

I play 8 hours a week ok. Field hockey you have to bend your back no matter what. Look at this video again and you can see they haven't got straight backs have they. exactly.

Why is it that field hockey with ice becomes bandy, and NOT ice hockey? Similarly, ice hockey without ice doesn't become field hockey, but indoor bandy. Where's the logic?

Can someone explain to me what field hockey is. I don't hate the sport at all I am just curious on the differences between ice hockey and field hockey. why do the players have short sticks and why is there a hook at the end of it?

JeneralHD its kind of like soccer in the sense that there more players than in ice hockey, its a bigger field we call a turf, also we use a ball which hurts like hell if you get hit and is hard to control and you touch the ball with any thing other than your stick

Sails the hook is to control the ball and it’s used for certain types of passes and shots :) . The sticks are short so it allows more control and different skills when you are closer to the floor ;) ye
