I know that time doesn't mean a bloody thing these days, but incredibly it is now ten years since Field Music (Measure) was released. We made Measure after nearly three years of solo projects and existential crises, during which we weren't sure if we would ever make another Field Music record. But we did, and we threw the kitchen sink at it. 70+ minutes of widescreen pop, clattering funk, stacked harmonies, found sound interludes and of shaking off the embarrassment of our blues-rocking musical first loves; the likes of Led Zeppelin, Cream and (all sides of) Fleetwood Mac. Well, for the first time since the initial pressing Field Music (Measure) is back on (gleaming red and yellow) vinyl for this year's Record Store Day. We've also marked the occasion by playing a couple of songs from the album for a live session from our studio, which fortunately has a few blue-green walls (Teal Temptation™) just right for chroma-key silliness. Hope you enjoy listening as much as we enjoyed trying to play parts we haven't attempted since 2009...

I used to write and record music because everything was balls and there didn't seem to be anything in the world that got it right, so I thought I'd have a go. I did it for about 30 years and then suddenly I discovered Field Music, so I didn't need to do it any more. Completely natural, unpretentious meanderings that sounds like it is literally leaking out of these boys wether they like it or not. This has surely got to be how and why music began. And bloody-well should be why it continues. I finally got to see them in Kendal just before Lockdown started and I'm so grateful that they were the last live band I saw before the world went to sleep. I know it can't be easy for you to carry on doing this when all seems to be against you but from a believer and a fan of the purity you peddle thank you so much lads.

Bloody great. G.R.E.A.T. I'm baffled. In awe. The raw punch of The Police or early Talking heads, combined with so many sophisticated, mesmerizing elements from so many ages of the prog, pop and rock scene (Godley & Creme, Bowie, P.J. Harvey, Blood red shoes, XTC, Blur, Prince, whatnots...!!)

The proof that there is still some life left in Rock yet and that it is possible to still be original and cliche free. Great stuff - Let's Write A Book has always been one of my favourites.
