I've watched this several times. I really enjoy your presentation. I recently decided to stop keeping a journal however I became interested in Traveler's Journals when I happened on them while pursuing a more minimalist life. I decided to get the FN size because I had loads of empty FNs. Suddenly, my interest in journaling reignited. My love for TNs has grown exponentially thanks to vloggers like you. Thank you.

I was very anxious about being separated from 'older' entries, which is why I kept a hardback Leuchtturm that 'lasted' for months and months. I came back to TN because I learned that keeping a separate insert for each category--to do, journaling, collections/ etc. was more sensible than flipping about. RyanCarrol helped the whole world of journaling with his bullet system, but the system in aTN? Priceless. Now you have rocked my world in showing that simple, portable and yet fulfilling is better yet! And when you said that filling a book was satisfying I related immediately. I have a coupon holder that I really like and it has notebooks waiting their turn and filled memory/documentary/my life notebooks all in one place. Voila! no anxiety and a new adventure with Field Notes size. Space cannot tell of my father, my mother and an attic full of matching journals I found in my childhood. Thank you for adding to my 'store' of great ideas!! my old gift cards are washi loaded and it's time to record today's 'echo'. thanks again.

For years when my family gets together I use a regular journal to document our encounters. One of the things that works extremely well for me is to carry a small notebook, like what you can get at the Dollar Tree, and write crib notes in it. Since I get behind on some days I do not worry about forgetting something.funny or informational that happened. The journal writing for the trip is always finished once I get home. For more than 10 years this has worked for me. This year I will use a TN, but only for crib notes until they are written in my full sized journal which is the one that has tidbits and photos . I carry a FN sized notebook with me every day.

That Travel Journal is a work of art! Abs beautiful! And such a nice video. I can relate, how many times I've brought a Travel Journal which stays at the hotel.. then my intention to make entries when I get back home, yup, it never happens. lol I also like your suggestions for your every day journaling. You've sparked my imagination! Thank you! :)

Very nice flip through - especially liked the tip about putting washi tape around a card to keep in notebook. Brilliant! (Watching in 2021 - "If you ever get to Paris..." The farthest from home I've been since March 2020 is the next county...lol.)

Excellent video! I enjoyed that VERY much. I too am something of a documentation fanatic, and although I don't travel - except in my mind. :) - I've been keeping a "Life as it happens" journal since November 17, 1986. I love being able to pull out exact dates on things like that, and reliving them in my mind. I think it's a great brain exercise too. I do all of my journaling on computer, and even though the editor has changed over time (qedit, zEdit, and now Emacs "org-mode") the format is always pure text. Even so, I also keep snippets of things (in plastic containers) that remind me of those events, much like what you do with business cards, pictures, and so forth. You've given me some GREAT ideas on refining my method of handling the snippets, and for that, I'm grateful. Keep up the good work and I look forward to subsequent videos.

Karen Yanonis I have the classic sized Midori as well and it was difficult to give it a rest. It really doesn't seem like a big deal but the weight was contributing to my neck feeling tense regularly. Don't get me wrong, I still love my Midori... using it for my church notes so it has one insert and a leather type wallet ;)

I'm off on a short trip later this month and deciding if I should leave the full size home and totally jump into the smaller size - so I'll let you know how that turns out - as I hate to carry too much while traveling - so I think the one i purchased from you will be perfect.

+Paula Touhey Hi Paula! I use the Canon Selphy (you can print from your phone too). I use the diptick app and usually use the 4 squared frame. The paper is semi glossy, that's how it comes. Let me know if you have other questions. Thanks!

Loved the video. I find that a 8cm wide journal is perfect to fit in a male shirt pocket - but I have trouble finding the size outside of Japanese stores. ( Miro notebooks ). Its only a hair less wide than the FN but it makes the difference in the fit :) - Love the leather cover you have. Do you have a link to it?
