Beautiful film. What a lovely man. Seeing that the place turned into a touristic spot is fucked up.

Very thought provoking documentary. While what happened to the old couple in the beginning was sad, it makes me wonder how Yukio Shige would've lived if he didn't meet them. What he's doing is wonderful and helpful.

This man is an angel on earth. I was living as an exchange student in Japan in 1999-2000 when my year was cut short by my sister's suicide stateside. To say it changed the course of my life is an incredible understatement. I'm developing a suicide prevention app, and want to roll it out this year if possible. I'll seek out Mr. Shige and ask for his input and blessing. Thank you, Yukio-san for all you've done for your fellow man!

I just clicked on the link and it hasn’t started playing but I am already crying. I’ve been in a state where I thought I would be better off dead. True hero’s…… they just do what they feel needs to be done Life always seems to have a purpose bigger than us ❤️❤️❤️❤️

You are right. There is a purpose for every person’s life. Your life matters. Do not lose hope. And don’t be afraid to reach out for help if the negative thoughts return. There are countless people who want nothing more than to help people trying to decide if life is worth living.

It is a tough job but one has to do it with heart and hope for the best. Great man saves people's lives. Killing is sin. So we must be very strong , looking at a bigger & brighter picture of life and working hard to pass this dark storm.

He's a hero for sure, but people have reasons to commit suicide sometimes and by jumping off of a bridge they do no harm to anyone but themselves.
@savedfaves

I disagree they don’t only harm themselves. As the woman said, they leave behind a world of hurt. It’s generational. Bit by bit we can stop the shame, and in the words of Fred Rogers, see that feelings are “mentionable and manageable”.
