So interesting this kind of behind the scenes. Thanks for this video showing how you set up your mics. I’m wondering 🤔 how can you remember where you set up your mics, because I guess that’s not the only ones you left in the woods that afternoon right? And are those big ants 🐜 dangerous? Their big butts are huge and look like danger… 👀

Haha, good question! I've had to spend hours trying to find the rigs in the past, but now I drop a waypoint in Google maps which seems to work just fine. The local guides are also helpful in this regard. Luckily those ants were pretty tame and did not do any damage.

Very cool, thanks for posting! I loved your Zoom F3, 6060 Costa Rica recording, so this is eye opening. I noticed you are using a Zoom F6 here with 4 XLR outputs…for 2 lavs?

I'm actually recording with 4 lavs in quad AB here.

i can picture the humidity and the heat there, i would not last a minute and all the insects would be all over me...

That’s exactly what I was thinking about. 🙈 I think the humidity I could handle it somehow, but all the mosquitoes would drive me crazy 👀 because I always get bitten by them… 😢

Are the DPA 6060s mainly because of the water factor? Would you use LOMs or clippys for a drier area? Edit: Also, have you used the 6061s before?
@GeorgeVlad

The 6060s have a higher max SPL which helps in loud locations like the rainforest. I also record with Lom and Clippy mics there but I have to protect them from humidity otherwise they drown. I've not used the 6061s but I expect them to be noisier.
