Guide to Cleaning the CZ P01
The CZ P01 is a popular compact handgun known for its reliability, accuracy, and ergonomic design. Proper cleaning and maintenance are essential to ensure that your CZ P01 operates smoothly and lasts for years. This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to clean your CZ P01 effectively.
Materials Needed (links to gun cleaning supplies at: skullcrush.com)
Cleaning Kit: Includes a cleaning rod, brushes, patches, and a jag.
Gun Cleaning Solvent: For breaking down fouling and residue.
Gun Oil: For lubricating moving parts.
Rags or Paper Towels: For wiping surfaces.
Toothbrush or Cleaning Brush: For scrubbing.
Soft Cloth: For applying oil and polishing.
Safety Glasses: Recommended for eye protection.
Bore Snake (optional): For quick barrel cleaning.
Step-by-Step Cleaning Process
1. Ensure Safety
Check for Ammunition: Ensure the handgun is unloaded. Remove the magazine and visually inspect the chamber to confirm it is empty.
Engage the Safety: Engage the manual safety and keep the firearm pointed in a safe direction during the cleaning process.
2. Disassemble the Handgun
Remove the Magazine: Press the magazine release button and remove the magazine from the grip.
Check the Chamber: Again, verify that the chamber is empty.
Field Strip the P01:
Pull the slide back slightly and lock it in the open position using the slide stop lever.
Rotate the slide stop lever down and release the slide forward to remove it from the frame.
To remove the recoil spring and guide rod, simply pull it out from the slide.
Tilt the barrel upward to remove it from the slide.
3. Clean the Barrel
Use a Cleaning Rod: Attach a patch soaked in gun cleaning solvent to a cleaning jag and run it through the barrel from the chamber to the muzzle.
Scrub the Bore: Use a bronze or nylon brush on the cleaning rod to scrub the inside of the barrel, focusing on carbon buildup and residue.
Dry the Barrel: Run clean, dry patches through the barrel until they come out clean.
Oil the Bore: Apply a light coat of gun oil to a clean patch and run it through the barrel for protection against corrosion.
4. Clean the Slide and Frame
Use a Brush and Solvent: Dip a toothbrush or cleaning brush into gun cleaning solvent and scrub the inside of the slide and frame, focusing on areas where fouling accumulates.
Wipe Down Surfaces: Use rags or paper towels to wipe down the inside of the slide and frame, removing dirt and debris.
Clean the Firing Pin: Use a brush or patch soaked in solvent to clean around the firing pin, ensuring it is free of fouling.
5. Clean the Recoil Spring and Guide Rod
Wipe Down: Use a cloth or paper towel to clean the recoil spring and guide rod, removing any residue.
6. Clean the Exterior
Wipe Down the Grip and Frame: Use a cloth or paper towel dampened with solvent to wipe down the grip and frame of the handgun, removing fingerprints and dirt.
Inspect for Damage: Check for any signs of wear, cracks, or damage that may require attention.
7. Reassemble the Handgun
Insert the Barrel: Place the barrel back into the slide, tilting it slightly downward to secure it in place.
Reinsert the Recoil Spring and Guide Rod: Position the recoil spring and guide rod back into the slide.
Attach the Slide to the Frame: Align the slide with the frame and carefully slide it back into place until it locks securely.
8. Final Lubrication and Inspection
Apply Lubrication: Use a small amount of gun oil on a clean patch or cloth to lubricate the moving parts, such as the slide rails and locking lugs.
Wipe Down the Exterior: Use a soft cloth to wipe down the exterior surfaces of the handgun to remove any fingerprints or excess oil.
9. Store Properly
Final Inspection: Check to ensure everything is properly reassembled and functioning correctly.
Store in a Safe Place: Place the handgun in a secure and dry location, preferably in a gun safe, to protect it from damage.
Additional Tips
Frequency of Cleaning: Clean your CZ P01 after each use or at least every few months, depending on how often you shoot.
Avoid Over-lubrication: Excess oil can attract dirt and debris, so use it sparingly.
Use Quality Products: Invest in a good-quality cleaning kit and solvents for the best results.
By following these steps, you can keep your CZ P01 in excellent condition, ensuring it performs reliably when you need it most. Regular maintenance not only extends the life of your handgun but also enhances its accuracy and functionality.

I just bought one of these bad boys yesterday. The factory doesn't seem to oil the slide, so it's a probably good idea to proactively lubricate key components before firing a round. Very impressed with the overall quality, and specifically the internal rail system on the slide. I wonder why more brands aren't using this type of construction; perhaps CZ has the patent? Anyway, thanks for the helpful video, @Skull Crush Inc. +1 Like

Yes, clean when new to get the factory grease out of it. Clean after every use, regardless of round count. This will make sure it’s always 100% good to go at anytime.

First time gun owner here! I have Hoppe's bore cleaner and a bottle of Hoppe's lubricating oil. I do not have any CLP. I noticed you used the CLP to clean the inside of the barrel(bore). If I get some CLP, should I use it to clean the whole gun like you did and then use the bore cleaner for the bore? Silly question, I know. I appreciate it!
@SkullCrushInc
@SkullCrushInc 11 ай бұрын
You can clean everything with CLP. Bore cleaner is for the bore. You can use bore cleaner if that’s what you have. Just use the lubricant to go back and lube the dry metal surfaces and friction areas. Just try to not leak any fluids into that hole on the breach face (where the firing pin comes out to strike the primer).

I hope you can give an opinion on this, or anyone else that can chime in. I bought a CZ75 Compact and a CZ75 P-01. Both are great guns. My issue is with the plastic guide rod.
