Heck yeah. I love my 34 cal 10 pellet 2 3/4" too. I usually use a tapered hull but I could do the napkin trick too. It's great to make things work. Very utilitarian of you!

My old school style roll crimper works so well I can’t justify buying a nice drill press one.

Ive used a similar recipe for a while Fiocchi 12ga 3", 34gr IMR Blue, FS12 wad, Mylar Wrap, 12 .350 pellets, roll crimp and haven't had a deer run more than 10 yards after being hit. Thanks BRO!

If I can't get blue dot, what powder/charge can I use as a replacement?

I have used 26 to 27 grains of Longshot in these loads.

@Bubba Roundtree Outdoors what do you think about soft lead buckshot? I have some Winchester 000 that is true 000 size and weight (federal's is undersized) but it is almost pure lead and very soft. What is better for hunting and why? Harder lead but lighter "00" buckshot (say 47 grains a pellet) or soft but HEAVY 70 grain .36 cal 000 buckshot assuming similar patterns for both?
@BubbaRountreeOutdoors27 күн бұрын
@@Tyrantresister soft lead pellets have a better terminal performance just because of the better expansion characteristics. That's where buffer really pays dividends! Buffer helps to stop pellet compression during the firing process and keeps the pellets round and really helps with patterns at extended ranges.

@@BubbaRountreeOutdoors I heard that aswell, but then I see you handload super hard cast buckshot that doesn't even deform when it impacts bone!! So I thought maybe hardcast was better and would penetrate / break bones better. What about self defense against a large animal like a moose. Would the soft lead true to size / weight 000 buck get good penetration or would you want harder cast smaller buck? Thanks!

Would table salt work just as good as the buffer? It's a heck of alot cheaper.
@BubbaRountreeOutdoors Жыл бұрын
No... table salt is way too heavy and very corrosive to steel components!

You can use corn and potato starch! I have tested those 2 with a lot of success!

Which Lee precision model is your powder measure (one you have the Longshot in)?
@BubbaRountreeOutdoors Жыл бұрын
both are the Lee table top measures. The 1 on the left is just an old 1! Here's what I'm using: leeprecision.com/perfect-powder-measure

Love the napkin trick, A palm sander works great for settling buffer. Thanks for your informative videos Its hot in Minnesota and we have the smoke from Canada , the air looks like LA here.

And a vibratory tumbler rim (if you load brass too) settles it quik
