Field Tested NEW Black Rockaway Rod on Superbowl Sunday!

This Rod Was Released by Okuma Fishing in 2025!
Yes, Okuma USA is known for fairly priced fishing gear that are quality made. This year's first release is the new Okuma Custom "B" Menpachi Rods. These are Black & are canceling out the original Blue "A" series that i first reviewed years ago. These new carbon rods are lighter in weigh & stronger than the originals. If you need longer casting distance there's also the 12" & 13' models. But i wanted an "all around model". Since i reviewed the original A series before it's release i knew i needed the versatile 10'7" length (which sold out fast as proof of their good reputation last month).
This is my second revue on these rods. First was just a product "look & see" revue last month. This time i went into the field & used it. Also a buddy met me on location & i got his input as well. The first few shipments all sold out across Hawaii. Fast. Only 1 store still has them so i've been spreading the word that they're carrying them in town to help them out. My first question was "is there anything wrong with them"? If i had to be nit-picky i'd say my new Black 10'7" has no hook keeper. But the foot guides are thick so they'll do. But now i was able to put load on my rod though not much to get an idea of the main difference that separates this newer line from the original Blues.
The whole rod blank shares the load of a strike. Not just the upper section like the originals. Must be a carbon rod trait, to share the load evenly as much as possible. Also it's WAY lighter than the original series. And i think thinner (need to get my micrometer to verify). It's nice to see the rod itself sharing any load instead of moving & centering that pressure towards the tip. I tried to pull down on the tip while my friend held the butt. Wow! Even length stress along the rod's entire length. Less chance of the tip snapping unless the angler "high-sticks".
Like i said i have no connections to Okuma. This is my "free-lancing" review of their newest spinning rod. My prediction? It's going to be hard to keep this rod in stock when the Sea Perchers off California & Oregon finally get their rod shipments. Plus the shorter lengths will be a decent rod for all fresh water anglers as well. Good job Okuma USA. Currently the 3 most popular sizes in Hawaii are 13ft (HWM-S-1302MHB), 12ft (HWM-S-1202MHB) & 10'7" (HWM-S-1072MHB). These Blacks are called the "B" series as the first "A" series was Blue. Not sure if i'm going to spend my personal money on another size as i already own all the current sizes of the originals, and now this. Plus all the original Rockaways & SP's. It's going into storage tomorrow.
I really don't need another rod or reel for the rest of my life as i have 100's w/most BNIB. To be honest i'd rather just do revues for the rest of my life. Educate others. Don't need to actually fish anymore as that no longer "floats my boat" for me like it used to. It's a job now. Pure & simple. To educate those that need & want to learn on what to look for & to be careful purchasing gear that doesn't live-up to it's expectations. And i actually like doing this. To be honest i did enjoy meeting my buddy Russel today fishing. My SUV is down. 4-months now. Had to borrow a truck to haul garbage & cans while doing shopping for 2-months today. No Super Bowl for me today. Had to work hard for my wife and little chihuahua today. And i found myself having fun catching & releasing fish today. Miss that feeling more than anything. But no Super Bowl For me today.

Gotta say love the rod got the same one!! Perfect for whipping. Easy to throw large bubble and the rod is effortless to launch. It loads in the middle and has a good whip on the cast.

The carbon build of this rod equally disperses some of the strain placed on the blank. You can feel & see it on the cast.
