I was into Among the Stars, but the space theme put me off. This might just do it for me.

Sweet.. Artipia, my favorite theme and a nice nod to Among the Stars. Yay Greece!

I really wish you would have done a 2nd year extended gameplay video ... as I don't know how many more times I can watch this same video! ;)

This seems similar to Glen More but without the mechanic of moving in a circle to pick your new tile.

Should the tomatoes be a vegetable or a fruit? ;)

A threat to mankind. They can be of the killer variety, you know.

I wonder if you could play AtS with the same kind of set up

i'm not sure how you'd classify the different types of cards into draw piles...

Could you take the 2 player variant and expand it for use with multiple players? Seems scalable and fun - I always prefer sharing a play area with people rather exclusively looking at our own hands/tableaus.

hmmm, do we get a full tank immediately when we build a new water tower?

There doesn't seem to be any player interaction, beyond maybe hate-drafting. Even 7 Wonders has trading and calculating combat against your neighbor... is there anything like that here, or is it multi-player solitaire?
@rahdo8 жыл бұрын
it's pretty much like among the stars... main interaction is through the draft. that's with my prototype anyway, maybe there's more in the full game?
@Punkve19878 жыл бұрын
Would this be worth giving a shot if I hated Among the Stars? From your runthrough it certainly looks more fun...
@rahdo8 жыл бұрын
depends why you hated AtS...
@Punkve19878 жыл бұрын
I am not really sure. I mean, I like drafting and I like the idea of building something in front of me. I just felt that in AtS all I did throughout the game was to pick- and lay down the card that gave the most immediate points. Apart from that, nothing really seemed to make any sense. I don't know how to build a space station and/or what I need a "hyperdrift-module X" for in the future if it does not give any points right away. I believe, however, that building a farm may make much more sense. I know why I need cows and or potato fields. Its food. Simple as that. And when the theme actually makes sense, maybe the mechanisms become more fun as well?
@rahdo8 жыл бұрын
well then it sounds like it might be a better fit for you :)

Aren't those 2-player rules a big advantage for the first player? I would have guessed you replenish to 6 cards after every pick, not just after 2 picks.
@thirteenways34208 жыл бұрын
Keep in mind first player swaps every round, so each player gets 2 rounds where they get first pick.
@rahdo8 жыл бұрын
yup
@willemm93568 жыл бұрын
Yeah so in round 1 and 3 the first player has a big advantage, and in rounds 2 and 4 the second player has a big advantage. Whereas if you replenish to 6 after every draw, they have a smaller advantage, so that would seem more balanced, and I don't see a downside to that. So basically what I'm asking is, why the choice to give players a larger advantage(or disadvantage) per round?

to create a more tense game experience
@michaeldeardeuff6938 жыл бұрын
They could just use the Thue-Morse ("Fair share") sequence. It is mathematically the fairest way to draft. The first 12 picks would go in this order for players 1 and 2: 122121122112. But who wants to put that into a rulebook?
@jpbeland57628 жыл бұрын
that 2-players drafting variant seems unbalanced to me if it's always the same player that choses from the 6 cards and the second player always have second choice from 5 cards, no?
@rahdo8 жыл бұрын
nope. in rounds 1 and 3, player 1 goes first. in rounds 2 and 4, player 2 goes first :)

+rahdo yes I have noticed that after sending my comment I should have deleted it. thanks for taking time to reply.
@kennyb33258 жыл бұрын
I'm going to go ahead and agree with this, even with the correction. It seems odd that the same player gets first choice of the new reveals for an entire round. Seems like you might be able to hate-draft your opponent until they get no fields in the first round if you tried to and got a little lucky. I guess "snake drafting" could end up with the problem that players can build their own combos, but it seems more balanced.
@jpbeland57628 жыл бұрын
+Kenny Barrese ya I thought the same but I think both ways have plus n minus

For a "carebear" player you certainly like to crush Jen's plans ;)
@masterbridgemaster18 жыл бұрын
Yes it's funny... In these runthroughs with the *virtual* Jen, Rahdo has no problem with the *attacking* gameplay moves, just to demonstrate the mechanism of the game for us as viewers to see. This clearly shows the typical "hate drafting" mechanism prevalent in many games. I love the angst that these types of games create in the decision making.

Walker Smith well I guess you wouldn't normally have tomatoes in a fruit salad, they are generally used with vegetables regardless of them actually being a fruit. I'm more forgiving 😊
