Love the focus on rock production. So many of these are geared towards metal, this feels like a great middle ground.

I think it would be awesome to release SD4 with the ability to move cymbals and toms in a room. For example, to make one floor on the left, the other on the right, also with hi-hats and so that bleeds into other channels change depending on the position of the instrument. It just turns out that we are limited by the number of cymbals and toms in each library. Don't get me wrong, what Toontrack does is great, but I want more opportunities.
@7thwave423 жыл бұрын
That's possible now (or at least an approximation) using the Add Instrument function, the trick is to route the mic and bleed channels for the extra tom or cymbal to a new channel (one for the OH, one for the Room mic etc...), that way you can pan them however you want. Of course being able to just grab any instrument and drag it to any position would be amazing, so I'd also be really happy if that was added to SD4. Anyway, hopefully that was a bit helpful. Cheers.

@@alexsartandmusic I couldn't agree more that adding a feature that goes beyond the add instrument GUI (which puts it in the upper left in SD3) could take advantage of auto panning by default to where on the GUI the instrument was loaded. We don't quite have that ability because the starting kit limits the available slots that are not up on the left (and have a "type"). So for e.g. I can't add a 2nd kit if a kit only has one. And I think it should be possible to just switch to a "template" (if they implemented it) that contains 2 kicks - but somehow make appropriate "decisions" as to how to not lose the current mixer routing of the template I had.. Re the physical modelling, that stuff has benefits (less RAM needed, plus much more velocity layer realism - levels well beyond 128) and a MAJOR drawback - Libraries like MODO Drums use a LOT of CPU. (Pianoteq uses a lot as well, but it is much better programmed than MODO Drums IMO). So MODO Drums doesn't even have the full capability, with its demanding nature of programming skillor CPU load or both, of sounding like a real kit in all its dimensions (especially their hats which are not even physically modeled) - and its multiple times more of a CPU load than either BFD or SD3.

Hi Toontrack team! Been using this for about a year now and I love it, but just today I was going CRAZY thinking someone was trying to talk to me from another room, turns out in the Fields of Rock - Dry, in the Ludwig Coliseum snare, the centre hit,at somewhere 97 velocity, there's a bloke saying "yeah?" immediately after. Just thought it might be helpful to let you know! Love your work!

Not a drummer but i love a great drum sound as much as anything. So satisfying, especially when you've had crap drum sounds on your own studio recordings. God, I wish I'd had SD3 in the 80s and 90s!

I think a close sound can be obtained using 14x6.5 Pearl Sensitone Custom Alloy and 14x6.5 Steel DW Collectors Brass from the Darkness SDX library. But there will be a lot of work to do with the mix.

As an aside: Royal Blood are a third rate rip off of Cairo Knife Fight and well worth listening to for a lesson in drummer as vocalist alone. Way more intense and musically explorative: Aaron Tokana is brilliant.
