Review of The Fierce Knight Chess Set from The Chess Store. This is my raw take, no editing, but it's clear enough. If you haven't checked out DT's vids at his channel, you should: tinyurl.com/p7j...

I don't normally comment on videos but I felt inspired to say that your video was by far the most helpful in addressing the style and feel of each piece and set without actually being able to view it. Thank you for that service, have a good one

I am very late to this and I am learning so much! Thank you! There should be no pithy remarks! It is really nice to learn how someone cares about details and you have really helped sharpen my ability to know what to look for added so much clarity to each piece when spending money on a chess set that you want to be of quality! Thanks again and I hope you do more reviews!!

I have this set in 4" and with rosewood / boxwood pieces. I love it and have received nothing but compliments on it. I play it on a Drueke board with 2 1/4" squares and it fits perfectly. I have to disagree with you on the piece sizing issue, but I guess everybody has an opinion. It looks and feels great and love taking to our club and playing my games with it. I wouldn't change a thing with the pieces and feel that my purchase was worth every penny.

I'm glad you like your set. It's a good looking set. I was just nitpicking because that's what I do.

If you don't want to be disappointed by pieces being too large, buy an oversized board. I actually like the aesthetic of skirts which are wider than the bases, it further lowers the angle at which the pieces fall over, and I also think it helps hide the felts. Because my pieces have them, I play on a 2.3' square board, and that board looks just fine with regular club pieces on it.

All valid points, but you still have bad taste.

Queen dwarfed by the King is the standard Jaques London size relationship. That's how it should be. (I agree about the King's cross)

You are entitled to your poor taste, good sir.

@@braininahat Hahaha, nice one. I've been trying to find a set like this in 3.75" king size but haven't had luck. You make valid points about the heights though.

Do you have link to the Chess Store on eBay? Or maybe a link to an eBay listing for this set? I am interested, but cannot find the store or the combo listing.

I have the Chess Store link, but I don't see them currently selling the Fierce Knight set: thechessstore.com/

+Sassonic Ha ha...I get you. I'm glad that stuff doesn't bother me, because I'm sure it's really annoying.

Hi, I will buy the same fierce chess pieces but the king height is 4 inch. Do you thing 21.5 inch board is fit?
@braininahat8 жыл бұрын
What's important is the size of the squares, not the size of the board. A 21.5" board usually comes with a 2 1/8" squares and a 4" inch King usually has a 1 5/8" base, so that should be just right, but you should check the square size and the base size of the king, not the height of the king or the overall size of the board.

Ebony wood is naturally black. There is no "ebonizing" over natural wood. The wood is actually black. It's what makes the set unique.
@z-ra8 жыл бұрын
The black pieces on this video are ebonized boxwood. The "ebonized" is a fancy term that refers to making the natural boxwood pieces into a jet black color to resemble the real ebony for a fraction of the price.
