Wow...that place was fantastic , I've never looked at the florida keys and didnt even realise it has islands like this along the way ....what an awesome place to stay and watch the sunset or sunrise everyday ....those little cabins facing the sea looked awesome. I see the marina store knew Dave was coming and had a good stock of beer in 😂. So many local food options had my mouth watering ...as usual another beautiful part if the world that's on a whole other level to anything little England has to offer ...after watching that im not suprised one bit why you guys spend a month there. As always thanks for taking the time and work it takes to share your travels, I loved that video 😍

Thanks Marten. Appreciate your comments, especially realizing how many hours are spent to make the videos. Sure wish we would of had better weather, but we certainly enjoyed ourselves.

People complain about the traffic noise at each campground down there, fortunately Fiesta Key is a bit off the hwy, but just remember there is only one hwy down to Key West and the same hwy back, so the road noise is the lifeblood of the Keys. Very few of the Islands were habitable, but a lot of dynamite in the 70's & 80's carved out nice big deep marinas on many of the mangrove tree islands that used the resulting rocks to fill in the brackish water to make wonderful places for humans to live and to play. EPA rules & laws wouldn't allow much of that to happen these days so appreciate the rare gift that the Keys offer! We love it there, but remember not to expect 5 star luxury everywhere, just 5 star prices & 5 star experiences if you get into the moment! Every few years major sections get wiped out and have to be completely rebuilt from the hurricane aftermath, so enjoy & have a great time! Cheers, Davey

Stupid, stupid expensive and not worth it. At that cost, it will not get full again.

I think you are right. It never got full while we were there.

It seems like a good place to stay with good food, music and things to see. Was is pricy or not?

I give out the costs in the video....it's expensive.

It's almost impossible to get reservations in January in the Keys unless you book a year in advance. To see so many vacancies, tells you all you need to know about the economy. Thanks for the tour.

So true and raising their rates sure doesn't help.

We Workamped at their sister park at Sunshine Key for 6 winters from 2008 to 2015, Sheila in the office staff & me on the afternoon/night shift hauling trash dumpsters, snaking sewer, & doing cable/electrical/plumbing calls. It was a lot of work, we had fun from time to time, & learned a lot. During Hurricane cleanups when Fiesta Key transitioned from a KOA to Encore us worker ants got to make trips to Fiesta Key to help out from time to time. When my mother-in-law became ill, Sheila & I became the managers at a park in Winter Haven for 6 years so we could keep an eye on both parents. In 2021 we semi-retired to go back to Camp Hosting/Workamping in the USFS of CO, becoming the MGRs for our Salida District employer of 13 campgrounds the next year, but we still come back to FL in the winter for eldercare. My Father-n-Law is now in long-term care there so along with Sheila's mending arm we were overly busy cleaning & securing her dad's 5W this winter. We hope to go back to the keys one of these winters. We used to do Beer-butt-chicken at Porky's every Monday night on our days off. Oh the memories! Davey & Sheila

That's cool you worked down there and saw the transition after the hurricane. Sounds like you have had quite the life through RVing and it makes it nice you were able to travel where you needed to be for family because of it. I bet you have some stories you could tell. The chicken sounds great. We'll have to try that next time.

@@WattsOnWheels lots of stories, we had two heavy Excel wood framed 5Ws in the early days of 2008-2011. We would have got an HDT, but that was before Jack got into the conversions professionally & there were very few used automatic manual shift trucks in power puff condition then. It would have been fun in 2008 to learn the ropes with "Future" full-time Dave, lol.

Nice camp ground but a bit pricey. However, all the views are worth it in my opinion.

Now if only we could get palm trees all around us with some privacy and direct ocean view, it would be perfect. Except we wouldn't be able to afford it. LOL

That video really makes us wanna go. You did a great job explaining the area and cost of visiting. It seems worth the visit whichever way you can swing it, but a Thousand Trails Membership sure seems like the way to go. We can’t wait to have that kind of problem to figure out. Thanks for the video.👍🏼😎

Unfortunately, the $$ is what you have to pay in that area. It is not cheap but the way I look at it - if it is a place you would like to go save your pennies elsewhere and go do it!! I love the water, sunsets, the music, the food, and the overall vibe of the keys!l We splurged and I mean splurged and stayed 1 week at BlueWater Key Resort - wow. Awesome memories for sure. Had a huge site on the water and kayaked from my site. It was a place on my bucket list and I got to check that off!!
@WattsOnWheels5 ай бұрын
Totally agree. You have to save up for it, but the vibe in the Keys is great. Blue Water key Resort looks awesome, but I don't think we'd fit.
