There is a reason there has never been a 86+ rated card in any league other than the top 5 leagues that didn't have a transfer there and were higher rated. In other words, if you join a lower league with a high rating, you are able to keep that rating for a while but you will 100% get a lower rating if you don't absolutely perform good. But if you want to get a high rating in a low league, it's almost impossible.

Guys rating have nothing to do with if you like a player or not, there are simple rules that ea have made. I will try to explain it to you. Ronaldo got that big downgrade of -4 when he had 1 goal in 16 Premier League games and didn't play good for Portugal as well. Messi basically never had a period where he had less than 30 G/A a season in a big league. Even the season many said he was bad in Ligue 1 he had 21 G/A in 26 Games and Messis last season in a top league he had 32 G/A in 32 Games, which is why he never got a big downgrade. Then he went to MLS and has now 23 Goals & 16 Assists in 27 Games for Inter Miami. It's hard to get a high rated card in lower leagues, but if you play good in National Team & in that lower league, you will also not get a big downgrade in rating, even if you are high rated. Which is why Ronaldo struggles to get upgrades and Messi doesn't get big downgrades. I hope you understand how the system works now. If this system wasn't in place, we would have a 87 rated Mitrovic (27 Goals in saudi league), 2nd English League players like Szmodics (27 Goals), Eredivisie players like Pavlidis (29 Goals) on rating like Haaland (27 Goals).
