has anyone on the east coast ever tried to grow Coast Redwood as a Lumber Tree on the east Coast?

hi Blake! sorry I''m not to good at checking our youtube channel comments/questions. My colleague Jennifer Gagnon jogged my memory! A quick search on the subject seems to boil out the "native range" issue. I don't subscribe to going against the grain of those facts on any tree species. Seems they have been cultivated on the East coast - mostly New England areas? One site need characteristic of survival failure is compacted soils (which we have in the Piedmont of VA), although the coastal plain lends some hope here with the mixture of sand/silt/clay. In the end, the climate is just too close " to see level" it seems - take a gander at sites.redlands.edu/trees/species-accounts/coast-redwood/

A friend of mine "neighbor" planted a redwood in his back and she is growing good. About 15 years now I'd guess. I'm in WNY by lake Ontario.
