Richard Muhl, a senior environmental scientist with the Central Valley Regional Water Board, was inspired five years ago to start the trash clean-up along Steelhead Creek in Sacramento as a way to improve the survival rate of aquatic life in the creek, including steelhead trout and spawning salmon. Muhl recently lead a multi-agency team, including many volunteers, to pick up over 100,000 pounds of trash -- and transform the look and health of the creek.
