Been riding mr 99 R1 for 19 years but I really want to add a 5th gen vfr to the garage. I love the way these things look and sound. And you cant beat Honda reliability. Awesome bike man!

Best advice I was given was put some foil over the exhaust pipe. Keeps oil spills off the pipe.
@RideWNC3 жыл бұрын
That is sound advice if you have the OEM headers. It wipes right off of my 2Bros. pipes and I don't have to deal with oily foil.

Good on ya for taking the time to do some 5th Gen content, your advice on crush washer use is wrong my friend, they're a 1 time use part, never ever reuse any crush washer, in the same way an engine stretch bolt is a 1 time use part.

We'll agree to disagree. If it were a copper crush, maybe I would agree. Aluminum definately more than once. Again, it is your bike, do what you want. I don't care.

Hi, can you help me with one thing, can you remember if you warmed up the engine before changing the oil? In the owner's manual its say's to change the oil at a normal operating temperature.
@RideWNC3 жыл бұрын
A lot of manufacturers say that. It is probabaly not the most important step.

@@RideWNC Only difference is that it drains faster, so if you not in a hurry its easier to operate around cool engine, especially around oil filter
@mickeymouse4897 Жыл бұрын
Yes, always run an engine up to temp, leave it a good half hr to slightly cool off & allow oil sediment to settle into sump, then drain on side stand, you'll get more of the old oil out this way, ideally leave it to drain overnight if in a garage, also drop the filter at the same time ... Use 4T oil only which is bike specific & never use car oil, it'll ruin a bike motor.

If you use a genuine Honda filter, why not also the Honda oil?
@RideWNC2 жыл бұрын
Why? Mobil 1 is the best oil you can get. I have only been using it in this bike for 22 years. 55K miles.
@125AXer2 жыл бұрын
@@RideWNC I wouldn't characterize it as the best, but it is plenty good, and I use it in virtually all of my cars. And I own many. Your being specific about the filter, I was just wondering why not use OEM oil as well.
@RideWNC2 жыл бұрын
It is not as much about Honda filters. It is that OEM filters are better than aftermarket. Just Google K&N Oil Filter leaks. I use OEM filters on everything except my skid steer, because they just cost way too much money. No one has oil related failures. Many have had issues using aftermarket oil filters.

@@RideWNC you buy a dozen filters at a time yet you have only done 55k miles in 22years?? what a clown.

Fully or semi synthetic?

@@RideWNC I'm going to listen to you your experience sells it for me, so I just bought some Castrol power1 semi but don't have an oem filter, it's a new bike to me in for its first MOT (uk Road certification) tomorrow would you see an issue with me using the oil I have for a few days them when/if she passes MOT I'll get Mobile 1 fully and oem filter or should I not switch between fully and semi like that, its so hard to just get straight advice on line and I really want to look after this bike its actually a bucket list bike for me I'm so happy to have her she's staying for ever I hope, hence me liking your experience so much. So yea I'm going to follow your advice its just too late to get different oil now before my mot tomorrow and I want to change it before I ride it as I don't know the bikes history. Sorry to ramble and thank you for your sound advice and speedy reply...👍👌👍

You must be careful which oil you use. The wrong synthetic can destroy your clutch disks.
@EZ-D-FIANT Жыл бұрын
@@RideWNC Yea I've heard that amd everything I have read has said the oil I've bought is OK with wet clutch disks, do you think it's not appropriate then?
@darrencrevar8972 жыл бұрын
Why not a k and n filter? I was just about to do mine
@RideWNC2 жыл бұрын
K&N allows too much dirt and debris in. Most people use too much oil. OEM is better.
@reillygardner2733 жыл бұрын
why should I not use a k&n filter??
@RideWNC3 жыл бұрын
Is your Google broken? K&N filters are crap. Always use OEM.
