Fifth Giraffe Calf Born at Taronga Western Plains Zoo

There was plenty of rubber necking at Taronga Western Plains Zoo on Saturday 21 January when the Giraffe herd welcomed a new arrival.
The healthy male calf, named Shomari, arrived late in the afternoon, much to the delight of watching keepers, guests and volunteers.
There are now five Giraffe calves in the herd! Watch Keeper Glyn's update to find out more.

So happy to see the world’s zoos and reserves are such excellent baby factories. I recall the ‘70’s and ‘80’s when we feared we’d lose so many species. That concern drove such beyond our dreams organizations as this one. In the US our eagles are back coast to coast-two nests now on Cape Cod, the extreme eastern US, and they dive for fish off our Pacific coast, too. Heartfelt gratitude for every animal so cared for.
