It is bizarre how blinkered he is about the FSoG story calling it a 'fairytale', made from an 'idealistic view of how two people should be'. Forgetting the BDSM themed abuse he uses Ana's criminal nativity and infatuation with him to manipulate her mentally and emotionally, he continually controls her, dictates what she can and can't do and tries to isolate her from her friends and uses her low self-esteem and lack of confidence against her, he runs rough shod over her time and time again.. Almost every encounter contains some sort of overt or direct intimidation, threat or bribe. He abuses her because she is NEVER able to give informed consent about something she has no knowledge or experience of, by her own admission she has never been physically punished and doesn't like pain. Obviously Jamie is trying to pass off Grey as something he's not to salve his conscience and justify his part in this film.

It's a book, get over it. You are honestly reading into it too much. You don't like the book? Then don't comment about it. Is it really that hard? People like the book, so what? It's introduced a somewhat taboo lifestyle and its intrigued people. Sure there are a couple blips in the authors information. And plus, the character Anastasia does not immediately state she is opposed to pain. And when she does she just doesn't leave, she wants to stay and help. She saw something In him she wanted to unveil. She chose to stay for her benefit and his. She's intrigued in his lifestyle and so she stays and continues to play. She also does feel turned on by certain other aspects of the bdsm. He uses threats and bribes, yes, he's fucked up. He doesn't even know how to do something as simple as love. As stated, he was delt with a shit hand of cards when he was a child. Most of the time she doesn't deal with his shit by the way. And if you read the other two books you'll know that he slowly starts to realize how wrong the way he goes about everything is and she continues to not take his shit. And I don't recall him ever using her self esteem issues agains her or anything like that, ever. Now you're just pulling shit straight from your ass. I get that this book has some unrealistic scenes but it's fiction. It's fake. It's not real. Everyone gets that.
