No love for Gargos, Vicious Watcher in this deck? Turning all your opponent's removal into a fight and a card draw, doubling your fight spells, etc. makes him seem like a great include.
@JABarnes184 жыл бұрын
I think bc Gargos only triggers when a spell targets, and not an ability, you might have to devote too much of your own spells to target your stuff, when you really are wanting to target your opponents.

I recently added Quartzwood Crasher to my Xenagos this is how it went: t1: Forest, Expedition map t2: Mountain, Sol ring, cracked Expedition map for Rootbound Crag t3: Xenagos, Rootbound Crag t4: Quartzwood Crasher, Xenagos gives haste and doubles in combat. Quartzwood does 12 trample damage and makes a 12/12 trampler token t5: Friend scoops after single targeting Quartzwood leaving a 12/12 trample token that can double to 24 ...and to think I was going to remove Quartzwood for Elder Gargaroth LOL

Very nice guide on this awesome new commander Prof. I am building a Neyith deck my self at the moment. I was considering the folowing cards, you did not mention for the deck: Gargos, Vicious Watcher (double up fighting with fight-spells) Garruk's Uprising (card-draw and Trample for the team) Hunter's Insight (another good draw spell for big creatures) Marauding Raptor (cheaper creatures, synergy with Enrage-Dinos) Nylea, Keen-Eyed (cheaper creatures, nice target for fight-spells) Polyraptor (crazy Enrage-effect, combo-finish-potential) Purphoros, Bronze-Blooded (nice target for fightspells, haste for the team) Quarzwood Crasher (Trample synergy) Rada, Heart of Keld (lands from the top of library, can get huge late-game) Silverclad Verocidons (nasty Enrage ability) Temur Sabertooth (save creatures, repeatet ETB-effects, indestructible) Terror of the Peaks (nice ETB-effect with big creatures) Not all of them may make the final cut, but i think some of them could be quite good in this deck. What do you think?

@harrybaldino89554 жыл бұрын
I don't believe it is accurate. So Eacj of those beasts fight at the same time BUT they each fight a creature SEPARATELY. Each of them have a separate instance of fight. Which means you would draw a card for each separate instance of fighting each creature.

I’ve added Zada, Hedron Grinder to the deck, as targeting her with a fight spell means you’re targeting all creatures you control with a fight spell and it will be different occurrences of fighting for each creature and it’s really nice
@Jimmythehead4 жыл бұрын
Oops, update. Fight spells don’t only target Zada, but Zada and an opponent’s creature. So the ability doesn’t trigger. But for double power and double strike instants it does and with Neyith’s double power ability already it’s still useful in the deck

Vigor was the first card that comes to mind. It is a win more card, but it must be answered quickly since it will allow you to get even more advantage from your blocked creatures and lets you have your creatures fight each other with no risk (while getting huge). It can even combine it with red damage based board wipes make your board instantly deadly. I'd probably run a subtheme of token generation to give you access to a lot of chump blockers/attackers and keep the decks momentum.

11:21 Dolmen Gate is worth a look too, since it protects your attacking creatures from all combat damage. 12:15 Some more good blocker invalidators: Legion Loyalist, since he gives your team first strike, trample, and straight up prevents tokens from blocking. Siege Behemoth, since it lets you assign combat damage ignoring blockers. In a pinch, there's Predatory Focus for a sorcery version of the effect until end of turn, or Outmaneuver for an instant combat trick.
@carsonmichalowski60754 жыл бұрын
This kind of Legend is exactly what I want in Commanders! Takes a mechanic that is primarily locked to one or two colors and provides a payoff for it! I like how it's just on "fight" not not "punch" effects because having that on "punch" effects would be too one-sided. Other cards that might be worth considering: Volcanic Salvo from the New M21, with the large amount of power on creatures it's all too easy to get it down to just RR to deal 6 damage two two targets. Blasphemous Act can be a good 1 mana board wipe if it's needed. Ulasht the Hate-Seed can become large rather quickly, and Apocalypse Hydra can easily enter the battlefield as a 10/10 or mor, with both it and Ulasht able to ping down smaller creatures to prevent them from chump blocking.

Two more cards you might consider for the deck are Dolmen Gate and Angel's Trumpet. Dolmen Gate seems a no-brainer, since it adds another form of protection to your attackers, and makes fights always profitable for you. Angel's Trumpet is a bit trickier, since it could punish you for going wide instead of tall, but it can ensure your attackers can still block later, and punishes more controlling decks. It also makes sure that you can get plenty of card draws of blocking.

I brewed a gruul fight deck a while back using Stonebrow as the commander. If I may add onto this spicey little deck idea, might I suggest the card "Breaker of Armies"? It's a bit pricey in the mana department, but it's a 10/8 that has to be blocked by all available creatures an opponent controls. It might not be the most fantastic choice, but it could be good when you need to get some combat damage through an army of tokens. All those chump blockers made by Krenko or Edgar won't really mean much if they're all blocking the big scary Eldrazi monster.

I just built my first draft of Neyith and so far it is really good. I'm curious to see what you did prof. I had one issue though. With 2 color decks there are sooooo many good options compared to 3 because your best cards are more limited. One example, obviously rishkar's expertise screams autoinclude, but so does Great Henge. I’d hardly call it close to an auto-include, it’s a gratuitous ‘win more’ card. If you can dump 6 mana on a do-nothing enchantment, you’re probably already winning anyways. Same thing as Sunbird’s Invocation, it’s strong sure, just kinda overkill.
@clairechristenson97054 жыл бұрын
You obviously can't have a bunch of effects like this but (at least in my opinion) EDH is the place to run a few big "do-nothing" enchantments since they won't be as competitive elsewhere.

bit late to the party. I think gruul might be one of the easiest colors (for me ) to build with. Like, most gruul commanders just care about creatures and/or pump em up. A lot of cards in Gruul are usefull in MOST gruul decks, be it a land-fall deck or simply a big stompy deck. Spells that let creatures 'fight' are already decent in any creature-heavy deck. Neyrith just gives that a bit more value. My gruul decks: Thromok the insatiable > LOT of ways to win, either with tokens, commander damage, mill (altar of dementia hehe), Fling or simply commander damage. Nikya of the old ways > put in 60 creatures with value and i was good to go. I even put in a lot of other gruul legendaries cuz well...they are good on their own. Notable (commander) creatures in the deck: Neyith, Omnath locust of rage, Ruric Thar, Tuya Bearclaw and Xenagos. Phylath > landfall ramp deck I choose for Nikya out of flavor. But i might just as well put any of the other gruul commanders at the helm and it still works. I just lose the utility from non-creature spells. But most creature spells (as i said) have some effects like fighthing, removal, etc. Love Gruul! Cool deck tech Prof. bit late to the party but have my like ^^
