At 56:30 you mention a version which just spews out tons of birds with Mystic. I feel like the most intuitive way to go about this is to mostly lean into being a UW control list which happens to also be able to combo off and put a bunch of birds in play. I would think of it almost like you are trying to put the U control pieces of UR Skred into the Fams list. But instead of having the two deck operating modes of tempo gameplan + control gameplan which UR executes, you take the two deck operating modes of combo gameplan + control gameplan. The U cardpool is already mostly the same between the two decks, mostly just have to use the right mindset in deck building. Not that I know exactly what that mindset should be, just offering some food for thought.

@@SoopaPop yeah I've tried doing mystic fams quite a bit on my channel. The problem is that mystic ends up removing a bunch of the other core pieces from the deck when you bring it. It's a balance :)

I can't see Sadistic Glee getting banned without an additional ban being aimed at Affinity decks. I think the new path forward (for Pauper) is: when new limited sets are introduced into the formats, the Pauper meta will shift accordingly. It's part of being a Legacy format. Either you proactively ban cards or you let sleeping dogs lie and you wait for additional power creep to make current meta decks irrelevant.

How about Faerie Miscreant instead of Seer? I guess they have less independent value, but flickering them must be pretty powerful. Also cycling makes more sense than scrying in a combo deck i suppose.

@@claudiomicheli3863 haha thanks. I think miscreant could be ok. The first one is really terrible and the next copies are amazing. For a while it was bugged so it always drew a card and that was broken

@@kalikaiz Yeah. I was watching your footage and probably the card advantage they would give wouldn’t be as important as the card selection. Still, the seer seems somewhat underpowered: a 50% chance of bottoming a land in the middle/endgame, even coupled with the fact that sometimes it finds you just what you’re looking for, feels a little bit too low impact. I like that it makes MoM very easy to cast though. Also trading with Epicures and stealing initiatives must be a notable upside

So you say that modern age analysis is a better list, is there any reason to run a single copy of mystic in that list, perhaps in the sideboard or you feel ots just worst?

Could try snuff out. A swamp, contaminated aquifer, 4 lorien revealed and 4 esper mh3 fetchland is 10 swamps. Good against avenging hunter in addition to beating glee.

The familiar fam! I swear, familiars is actually in a decent spot meta wise in my opinion. Also, I love the opening to game 1; "Opponent's on swamp, so probably glee." That sums up this meta right now in the perfect way. I love pauper, been playing it online and in person for many years. However, right now it's in a weird spot; there are so many cool cards to play with and brew, and some really interesting decks. On the other hand, glee and affinity make up roughly 99 to 99.9% of the meta, the other 1% being terror. Terror I believe is in a fair spot, but glee and affinity are just so, so oppressive that it makes the format not fun. It's one thing for a deck to be very powerful and control a vast part of the meta, but it's another thing when a deck is so oppressive that it makes the game itself not fun. And I believe that's where we find ourselves with glee and affinity; they are so oppressive that it's just simply not fun. And that sucks. It's quite a paradox, but pauper is in the best, and worst place it's ever been in. Sigh. We need to find a glee killer either in a deck, or preferably, in a play pattern. Perhaps familiars needs to be our saviour. The power of one! The power of many! ... familiars..lol PS- kalikaizer I love your stuff dude! You've quickly become one of my favorite MTG content creators. Rock on my man.
